Every time I go to Cannon Beach, I go find the herd and say hi! They like this one yard, on the right, heading up to Ecola State Park. So if you can't find them on the beach or in town, head up to Ecola. I fell in love with them back in March when we took a vacation to Cannon Beach. I also fell in love with Cannon Beach. I'd never stayed there. Just quick walk to Haystack, take a couple of pictures, and then leave. By far my favorite coastal town now!

Would this fit the 16.5 inch barrel 223 American ranch? It’s a Rugar American action right? Should it should fit is my guess? Just wanted second option before I buy, my only concern is if the mag well will fit an 30rd at mag

I found someone for the first time today. I own 35 acres of property and almost all of it is wooded so I'm starting my mushroom collecting today. I got almost exactly 5lbs in an hour and I only looked over a quarter of the property.

@@DADventurerNW I do have to worry about sustainability but I don't have to worry about other people at all which is nice. I know how much there is and I know how many I picked so I don't have to worry about over harvesting. I just pick enough for my friends and family and that's it.

@@alsinakiria that’s is a great attitude and sustainability plan. As long as you don’t rip up the soil or remove the trees, the mushrooms will come back every year. If you find any old lobsters that are past prime, consider spreading them in other areas around your property as new lobsters may come in those areas next year.

How did you modify your trap to open from the top? I crab and fish out of my kayak in the Puget Sound using my Danielson traps, and the idea of being able to open the top sounds pretty appealing.

@@brandonhamlyn1519 thanks for watching and your comment. Danielson makes another model with a top door. They are a few bucks more but totally worth it. McKay also makes a smaller “kayak” size trap that I love. Way easier to hoist onboard a kayak.

@@aaronmartinez3985 in the PNW, I start finding lobsters in late July through October in the coast range and the cascade mountains. They don’t need rain to fruit. Look for shady spots in fir and mixed fir forests.

I use OnX Hunt. It’s an $39 per year phone app and it’s awesome. I also have a Garmin 64st GPS but rarely user it anymore because OnX is so much better.

Thank you for your comments and question. There are still some morels up there. One of my friends found some blondes a few days ago. However, morels are winding down. Kings are still popping above 4,000’ on south and east facing slopes. And, it’s beautiful and way cooler up there now! Happy hunting!

Sometimes, part of a king may be bug free, like the stem or the cap. Part of a king is better than no king.

From what I've been told and from some experience, mixed fir and pine forests are the place to be for Spring Kings. If you can find one of those on the west side you might have some luck but they are certainly more common east.

Thanks for your question. When I fish Depoe Bay, I rarely leave the bowl of the bay. There’s enough structure and plenty of fish. Either north or south are both good bets. Head to the buoy and then find your structure. Good luck.

@@Madocthevindicator that is really a personal decision and has to do with experience and comfort level. For me, I’m fine up to 4’ swells, provided the periods are at least 10 seconds. Shorter periods and it’s like a washing machine out there. I also don’t like minus tides due to the big tide swings. I hope this helps.

@DADventurerNW ok ok....I won't just yet. We were keeping an eye out for them also. We were around 3k ft but couldn't find a good route higher. But I'm still learning that side of the mountain since stumbling across your channel. I had heard that kings start high and move down. At some point, there has to be a good "meeting in the middle" right? Load up on king boletes and morels! Nom nom! I live closer to the Tillamook Forest and know if very well. It's good to take adventures to the unknown also!

@@crystalrobbins5219 I’ve heard the same about Kings starting high, but in my experience they start lower and move up. 3800-4500 is about the right elevation for them now. Tillamook Forest is one of my favorites for Fall mushrooms!

Gosh these are amazing! I randomly stumbled upon some morels over on Larch mountain in the past week. I was given a tip about trilliums and saw some and thought, lemme see if there are any morels. And found 3! My understanding is that June is fairly late season, is that right? Do you think it’s still worth looking in the Mt. Hood area and if so, what elevation?

I don’t mind you asking. Thanks for your question. I’d say 3600 would be the lowest I’d hunt now. I was between 3800-4200’. Things are drying out on the east side so look for areas that are sloped and shaded from the mid day sun. Good luck.

That's funny. Yes there were reef sharks all over the place, but they are normally not interested in snorkelers, unless you are spearfishing.

I like mine except for the rear opening for a sling is too fat for a hk style clip. so the sling is a headache for me.

Thanks for your comment. I went with a sling with a loop on one end, made a slip knot through the opening in the buttock, and regular attachment on the front. Worked for me.

Question, do you have to acquire a "mushroom permit" just for personal use? I have heard mixed answers about this. I have found a good amount camping in the Ochocco's in June and ate them in camp but haven't ever just headed up around Hood just for them. Really enjoy your videos! I like how you give elevation and general areas to hunt! Thank You.

Permits are forest specific. Mount Hood does not require a permit. Gifford Pinchot does, but it’s free and online. Check with the forest service where you want to hunt. Thanks for your comments and support.

@@joepodunk284 that’s a good idea. In the Mount Hopd National Forest, you only need a permit if you want to pick more than a gallon of mushrooms per day. Otherwise you are good, provided you aren’t picking in any off limits areas. The ranger station has mushroom maps.
