Would have been cool to do it with a gold plated spike! lol

Looks like you were using a DPST slide switch. I believe SPST would also work as you are only using one set of wiring contacts.

That's a great idea, I guess a person could use the slide switch for point lighting...If someone knows hoe to wire up a switch Please let me know.

All I can say is "that is so damn nice"...I have the slide switches but do not need to worry about any power routing as my layout has no electricity on it. I have battery powered locomotives and they work just great.

Why didnt you stain your ties before putting them down?

Really like your idea for the throws, creative, not a lot of cost and no worries about burning out a switch motor. Really good idea. Thanks for sharing!!! D. Muse

Nice video and update!! You have really progressed since the last time I looked at your videos, that takes a lot of patience to spike all that rail, but a very nice job! Enjoyed the shots of your friends power on your layout, always good to have a visit from far away. Thanks for the video and really admire the hand laid track. D. Muse

You make it look easy!!!!! Hey what kind of glue do you use to hold the ties down?
@boxcarwill7 жыл бұрын
I use plain old white glue like the Elmers brand. That's it nothing special.

Great idea with the car spreadsheet. May I suggest adding a column for "date last checked"? That way, in a few years time, you'll know which cars are due for another check-up.
@boxcarwill7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking of putting that in my list but I can't get all the info to fit on the sheet. I may have to make it fit a larger paper.

When I get too many columns for a page, I just go to landscape and sacrifice rows instead.

Nice sized yard. It's going to take a while to ballast all that track. I notice there are still some areas where the track is not complete. Try staining and ballasting the ties before laying the rails. It's much faster, and easier to get the ballast tamped down smoothly. Use a 1" brush to stain the ties and roadbed all in one go, and then scrape the ballast with a metal straight edge (which also distresses some of the ties giving a slightly varied look).
