@@Sean-pq1gx Thanks for the feedback. Personally, I felt it was necessary to go over the major plot points of the game in order to express my opinions, and drive home where I believed it excelled and fell short. There is a part of me that wishes I made this video in a more similar fashion to how I discussed previous entries, however I stand by what I covered in the end. The purpose of a review is to, well, review something. With a story focused venture such as TGAA, it was pivotal to backup my claims with proper context. Furthermore, I provided a spoiler free review at the start for folks wishing to get a general idea of what I thought about the game without going over story beats. Considering the game is almost 40 hours, and I kept my review to about an hour, I’d say it turned out okay. I watch a lot of game reviews on KZfaq, and covering story events is par for the course. Also I appreciate your assumption regarding my love life, but you think too highly of me, ha ha. Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time to check out the video, leave a comment, and I’ll try to do better if I review anything in the future.

It still feels a bit embarrassing to admit that it took me 3 years to finish The Great Ace Attorney and the fact I've finished it less than a week ago.. Personally it felt so nice to see new characters, and best of all new characters in a new setting. I loved each case maybe some less than others but I wouldn't call any of them "horrible" unlike other cases in the other games... The story of the first game kept me enthralled to continue onto the second game until I got burnt out due to other things and stopped playing, I'm glad to have finally finished the game though!

the models in dual destinies are ALMOST all great but there is something weird and off model about phoenix’s to me. it’s hard to describe it. it shows the most in his “sweating” pose. they changed it in spirit of justice so u can tell the devs knew something was off as well

in all honesty i forgot so much about dual destinies that when i played spirit of justice less than a year later i thought the DLC case was the first time phoenix and edgeworth have faced off since the OG trilogy. it could be because of the time gap where i didnt play the games for a while but i find myself forgetting so much about dual destinies that i didnt forget about other games. i don’t remember disliking it when i was playing it, but it never felt like there was anything to really latch onto while playing it and as a result i’m constantly finding myself having to research the lore of dual destinies just to remember what happened

If anything else, Phoenix was likely going undercover to secretly investigate the sources of the *"Dark Age of the Law",* and take down hardened criminals who act as if they were above the law, like how some selected officers have to bust dangerous operations in a STING, while he is in disguise as a hobo/one of their trusted members and an informant for 7 years.

I know this is a 9 year old video but I always figured the reason why Layton and Luke were able to see the witch in Layton's office was due to Carmine's letter being written with the same type of ink that the Storyteller uses to hypnotise the townspeople during the parades. That's the only reason I can think of. Also yea The Storyteller announcing he was dying of a rare deadly disease only to immediately go "actually there's a cure and I'll be fine lol" also felt kinda out of nowhere lmao Overall I really enjoyed both parts of the video! PLvsPW means a lot to me as it was the game to introduce me to Professor Layton which became one of my favourite game series of all time. I wish more people played it. I personally consider it canon to both PL and AA

The decision to make Phoenix a hobo and basically take the spotlight instead of Apollo is one of the worst decisions i've ever seen and I honestly hate Phoenix in that game. Some people hate that in Dual Destinies, they basically made Apollo Justice nothing after what happened with Phoenix in that game but I don't blame the writer for changing him up after he failed so badly in that game. To start of with, he is so out of character where he would literally forge evidence just to get back at someone and the way that the Dark Age of The Law happened at all was so forced that I refuse to believe that it would actually happened. Phoenix submitted forged evidence 7 years ago yet he didn't know that it was forged evidence yet he lost his badge even tho other people like Edgeworth submitted forged evidence didn't get nearly as bad as a fate as what Phoenix did. And the game itself ended so unsatisfying, how did Phoenix do anything he just did at all with the Jury System, him going back in time and so much more? It's all stupid and what's worse is that Phoenix is so mean in that game and it didn't even explain enough in the 4th trial itself like what happened to characters like Maya and Edgeworth? We don't even get a mention, Apollo Justice is one of the worst games i've ever seen and the reason and the reason why Dual Destinies worked so well for me is because they pushed everything that Apollo Justice did and put it to the side which is a decision that I agree with and understand why the writer did. The only thing I think shouldn't have happened is sidelined characters like Trucy and Klavier. I truly hope that we never ever see Phoenix like that ever again

Simple. Because Kristoph didn't know how to take his "L" with grace. I really lost it when I saw that the WHOLE reason why he put Apollo through "Turnabout Trump" and "Succession" was because he got mad that he didn't get picked to become Zak's attorney. I mean the dingbat did all that for fame.... what an idiot.

I swear phoenix bluffs one or two times and people run with it as if y’all didn’t use court records full of evidence; and in the end we are always being asked if we know who is the culprit as an ultimatum it’s either you say yes (then think about what to do with after) or it’s over for the defendant. This happened with all the lawyers we get to play but the term was used in the trilogy and somehow only phoenix gets it handed lol.

Honestly, I think the primary issue with Apollo Justice is just that it suffers from exec meddling. If Capcom wasn't so certain it'd flop without Phoenix, then the developers could have crafted the game they wanted. I suspect the 4 case structure and bloated conclusion come predominantly from how the game had to scrap the old ideas to tie into Phoenix being there again. I honestly think the original idea of a new attorney was for the best as while it's fine giving the players nostalgia bait, it's also dragging the series down. I'd much rather they use the older characters either in the side lines or as suspects in a more futuristic part of the timeline. That way, we're not bogged down with the huge amounts of history that they have to work with and we can instead start fresh without sacrificing the old characters entirely. The half-and-half solution simply wasn't working in this game nor did it get better in DD where the plots felt even more constricted and inconsistent because of the mixing of old and new.

For me, I think it's time to start over with a fresh cast and crew. In other words, we should experience this world through a fresh lawyer and prosecutor preferably unconnected to Phoenix Wright. I don't think it should be completely devoid of references though. Older characters and should still be included in the next game. However, they shouldn't be the focal point. I know a lot of people are like Athena Cykes but her arc was finished in Dual Destinies. Pulling another Apollo with her and trying to stretch in more plot points in what little life that wasn't explored would be underwhelming. It'd end up with the same bloated feeling of trying too hard to keep an older character relevant as opposed to just giving us new characters and unloading all the baggage. I'd much prefer us trying to move forward than pumping the old out until the series gets stale. I'd particularly like to see more focus with say a fully fleshed out detective or more prosecutors to see the trials from a completely new perspective. I think it'd be a great way to move forward with the series, and I'd be excited to see how that plays out vs. more Phoenix hour since his character has almost nowhere left to go in terms of growth or characterization.

I am a major Phoenix Wright fan. Can’t get enough of him as a character. However, I can also agree that his story has been played out and at the same time it’s going to be hard to not see him in future AA games. If AA7 does come out it, they need to end it there for Phoenix’s character as well as Apollo’s as well as tie all of the major plot holes together even if that would take 6 or 7 cases. Im even borderline on Athena. I honestly think for AA8, they should start over with a brand new protagonists and side cast. To try and salvage the main series games.
