I love Superman because of his insane ability to overcome obstacles, and it primarily stems from my lack of ability to overcome my own obstacles. HOWEVER, after a while an unstoppable character must meet and unstoppable force and be brought down to the level of the common man. If he is just always winning and always soloing any enemy with zero build-up to his failure, he will remain defacto boring for all time

Superman is boring because they put an athlete in a race against handicap kids and they love Superman so much that even when they give him true competition like flash they buff up Superman to do things he can't do and break the legs of the competition just to make Superman look good. The problem with Superman is that they love him too much and instead of making a good character they just suck him off.

Well how come TOEI animated other shows like Slayers exceptionally well in the 90s...in the 90s. There's two sequel series around 2010 similar to DBS so it's Slayers and Slayers...Super? Ha ha. And it didn't look the same I'll say that. Art style was much different. BUT TOEI did that in the 90s. Koyama was the series structure...guy. And Saint Seiya in the 90s was TOEI too. Koyama and TOEI involved in the anime and movies. Why can't TOEI do that with DBS why can't they make DBS look like Slayers, Slayers Next, Slayers Try, or Saint Seiya Sanctuary, Asgard and Hades arcs? Soul of Gold too but that's like 2014 and most of it looked good but a bit of DBS type stuff too. Is it TOEI or does Toriyama tell them to draw Kakarot and all them with that new art style? Because whether it's good animation or bad animation, the art style really is the big picture. Toriyama said something about how saiyans or the ultimate alien body type for fighting is this slimmer skinnier build so, I'm pretty sure the art style is done by TOEI that way because of Toriyama. Not TOEIs fault. So we gotta start blaming Toriyama and not blame TOEI for everything.

The comic model has flaws and virtues. The Superman character as a narrative focus has flaws and virtues. I just think that they exacerbate each other's flaws dramatically and Pat is picking up on that

Pat is right- I did the exact thing with my friend and Nier Automata that Pat did with Paige and MH because his core ethical stance is WATERTIGHT. Liam couldn't even begin to counter Pat's basic position and if Woolie wasn't babysitting his feelings throughout this whole conversation we could have seen this get extremely ugly from him.

How dare Liam trash talk Phantasy Star, that's the one of the best Sega IPs ever. What about Shenmue? Got a super disappointing third game, that was only exclusive to PS4 and the Epic store, eventually to Steam, what a trash legacy. Shenmue 1 and 2 aren't even that good to begin with, Ryo is so robotic, the voice acting is god-awful, Gui Zhang abandons you halfway through the 70 man battle and the game is ruined by Gollum, and that's just Shenmue 1. Shenmue 2 has so many more interesting characters but I'm stuck playing as Ryo.

Uhm, ACKSHUALLY, Frieza is a mutant and that's why he has so many forms, so his father couldn't be stronger than Buu because he can't transform into that stronger mutant form.

I felt the same way about hearthstones as pat, easy to play, good system to obtain packs without using real money, hell I played it up til after the lich king expansion, but AFTER that, I just couldn't keep up with expansions, and the game got to the point that if you didn't play certain classes, you just lose immediately, and I was heavily against meta and always loved playing wild games, it just got too complicated

But what Woolie forgot, even though it was a few years away, Action Comics and Detective Comics, the main Superman and Batman stories, hit a 1,000 issues. Wonder Woman will hit 800 this year, and I hate Superman and Wonder Woman, but this happens when the company or creator refuses to capitulate to make a new story, new characters, and even characters that have been barely utilized because no one wants to take a risk anymore, it's between that and that people crave consistency, people are super afraid to find a new niche because that's all they know.

What do you mean Metal Gear has two disks? Star Ocean: Second Story? Fear Effect? Just Pat's incredulous comment about the Witcher's 3 story length cracked me up. Plus the return to familiar location like Pat said, is one of the reasons I love FFX, technically different story telling devices, FFX is In Media Res or starting a story that doesn't make sense yet, then somewhat going through flashbacks until you reach that point and Witcher 3, which returns to an old familiar site.

Back here after Blizzard announced the cancellation of the PvE stuff they announced for Overwatch 2. Yeah, this game is a big shitshow.
