I don’t like how this video is hailed as a “look how fast we drilled this” anyone can go this speed but it’s flawed with H&S pick ups and it’s an incident waiting to happen

Я сам бурильщик, и знаю не понаслышке какая это грязная и тяжёлая работа. Но она мне очень нравится, это крутое чувство когда ты заканчиваешь тяжёлый объект. Удачи вам ребята, и здоровья!

These are nice rigs man. Ever convert one to RC before? Seems similar to a Schramm t450g. Control panel even creeps out like a Schramm 😂
@gtd-desco
@gtd-desco 6 ай бұрын
It tracks with RC - we have resisted the temptation to go full RC - as frontline drillers' feedback consistently steers us towards simplicity, ease of repair and avoiding unnecessary proprietary component availability that could delay quick repairs to keep the rigs turning.

It’s okay, I know everyone that drills, wants to be the best hotshot driller and prove themselves, more too it than that though. Stay safe though! Time isn’t as important as your life and your hands around you.
@gtd-desco
@gtd-desco 6 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback @warriorlumni08 - What was impressive to watch with this driller, is that he's not trying to be a hotshot - with the right equipment he is relaxed, multi-tasking, collaborating with his second man if advantageous, he has made time to check the other equipment in the system, freed up resources to finish grouting previous boreholes, not had to do any manual handling, in fact pretty much all of the downward drilling is being easily managed by a single lead driller and minimising safety risks to himself and the crew in the process. Win Win

I’m wondering the same. Seems like if the ground can hold for 20-30 minutes it should be long enough to drop the loop down the hole.

Sorry not impressed as this is a full hydraulic automated system. Back in my day we hand wrenches and hand tailed everything with a cable tool rig. If everything was going right we were practically as fast.
@gtd-desco
@gtd-desco 6 ай бұрын
Thank you for your feedback, @kenjett2434. Like you, we deeply respect the successes and capabilities of our drilling forefathers. However, we must ask ourselves: Is hand-wrenching and hand-tailing everything truly better, safer, more efficient, reliable, and productive? The principle of sticking to 'back in the day' methods doesn't align with the future of our industry.

maybe as fast but thats gonna wear a guy out real quick. probably why you almost never see a driller older than 45.

@@gtd-desco guess you missed my intent I agree that technology can make things better. However with technology one would expect better and faster performance. As I stated I have work the old way and with newer hydraulic tech. Ones in this video were not working at peak production but that could be lack of training or kinda new and not mastered the skills. I just made a observation based on my many years of experience.

@@wigit2216 it does wear you out but working the oilfield isn't a cake walk. You have to get tough and work hard, most of all you need to enjoy the job. Not everyone is cut out for oilfield work it's same in timber business.

From. Canada when that driller hooked up that thin black tubing in the coil it next too the tracked rig ( on. cat tracks ) I assume that black tubing is used for casing and then it Looked Like he connected. the black tubing too that water hose / it remind’s me when I worked for a. while on seismic. ( oil exploration) in. northwest. central. Saskatchewan. around. a town called. St Walburg in Late winter , early spring 1967 / Also worked water jack ( driller’s helper. similar too this job. 1 winter. in the bush northwest of High. Level, Alberta. 1968 I think also a camp job. -20. below and colder. with. Lots of snow good experience but awful cold on the hands. and face , / have. a good day / Bill. S. Canada

Cheers Bill. The one consistent challenge no matter what decade we are drilling in will be adverse weather conditions! The black tubing are plastic pipes which form a 'loop' which is lowered into the borehole and eventually is connected to the Heat Pump which transfers the heat into or out of the building into these buried vertical loops.

Dear "waterpirate geothermal," Thank you for dropping by and sharing your thoughts with us. You're absolutely right; there's always room for innovation and improvement in the world of geothermal drilling. We appreciate your acknowledgment of our machine's capabilities. Geothermal drilling, you rightly pointed out, isn't a new endeavor. It's been around for quite some time. We've had the privilege of being involved in this field for decades, both as experienced drillers and manufacturers of specialized geothermal drill rigs. We celebrate every achievement in geothermal drilling, whether it's a 190-foot hole in 21 minutes or any other remarkable feat. It's a testament to the collective progress made by the industry over the years. As you rightly mentioned, things have moved on, and we're excited to be at the forefront of these advancements. Our clients have demonstrated remarkable speed and efficiency, installing 574-foot holes in just 54 minutes. Whats more impressive is they repeat this 7 times in one day. (Check out our other videos). It's a testament to the incredible possibilities when technology and expertise come together. We appreciate your passion for geothermal drilling, and we encourage healthy competition and continuous improvement in the field. After all, it's the collective efforts of innovators like us that drive the industry forward. So, let's keep pushing the boundaries, celebrating every achievement along the way, and ensuring that geothermal energy continues to shine as a sustainable and efficient source of power for the future.
