I feel like this mod is only getting praises because it's a mod. If you really dive deep into it, it's not as great as many people are making it out to be. The gameplay is the only thing that's good here. There's no roleplaying, no dark humor, no interesting factions and no memorable characters. Great video though! Loving the new lighting setup.

I think its hyped up, and overrated. removing what made fallout fallout, and replacing it with less interesting factions leaves it with less then it started off with.

The thing is: There is so little reliable evidence about "Yasuke", keep in mind we don't even know what he was called before being in Nobunaga's service, that if he wasn't black in Japan and in this video game, no one would even bother talking about him. That is why you can't say definitely either way whether he had samurai status. However, I would say he had not simply for the fact that the evidence given for it, fits other people in Nobunaga's service as well who were not samurai and there is a list of samurai in his service and Yasuke isn't in it. And for him being a skilled samurai fighter as shown in pop culture, is completely impossible, there simply wasn't enough time.

What's interesting to me about this whole situation is that if ubisoft wasn't so douchy about it, didn't steal shit from other games and didn't tried to dip toes at "historical accuracy" they could have a fun concept (although i can't make myself to write a "fun game" because i am so biased towards ubusoft lol). The idea of a fusion of japan traditional features with the outside world is not new and is actually widely represented in anime. Samurai champlu (samurais fighting with hip hop music playing btw!), afro samurai (great niche anime, and is literally about that same concept of a black samurai), also stuff like black lagun (mesh of multiple cultures together), the list goes on and on. It is the annoying approach that caused that fail. The concept can be done greatly and there are great examples existing already

While Exanima may have larger gaps between updates at least they are content full, and improve things all round, even stuff that the players may not interact with and would be more appreciated by modders or people who would make use of their dev tools. I’m honestly starting to believe that VTM is just cursed as an IP when it comes to video games. This IP has such amazing lore that could be adapted into a video game yet for some reason the last good game we got was over 20 years ago I honestly just don’t understand it. BG3 showed that adaptations of TTG is possible in the modern era so why can’t VTM catch a break??
