Palur is now official stoppage for Chennai local trains. And Rail Neer Factory for Southern Railway is located in Palur Pondicherry Express running And additional a MEMU Exp is running

What happened to the scores of people employed by steam loco sheds across India? I have vivid memories of men who used to ride their bicycles past our railway house daily. They were all employed at the loco shed or railway workshops that were geared for steam. A huge number were employed for cleaning and others supplemented their incomes by collecting coal!

I honestly don’t mind the scrapping of old locomotives but it can sometimes sad if it leads to an extinction of a whole class or something.

Soon, decades later, the diesel and electrics that directly replaced steam would suffer a similar fate, I’m just glad some old diesels and electrics are preserved and cared for!

Hello this is Binoy vudayagiri, the original uploader - I am commenting from another channel I own. To answer your question, I moved to the usa a few short months after uploading this video and life changed quickly. I stopped uploading for many years. I recently started this channel (nomaddict) .. I will take your suggestion seriously and do this song again with much higher quality.

Happy to state that, those same steams are still running in the Darjeeling trains. They are over 100 years old!

I am currently at Pondicherry now, and have arrived by train. The Palur station is now back in operation, with like 35 trains halting there daily. The Pondicherry Special is now up and running as an electric train. But it lacks the charm it had in the olden days!😢 Nowadays, it is converted to Broad Gauge and electrified, but is still single tracked.
