This is an old video, but no way now would you have a chair like that without a headrest

I have been asked about the positioning of the lap belt (no shoulder belt available). Should the lap belt come under the armrests so that it sits against the pelvis or over the top of the armrests and stomach?

I am concerned as to what is preventing the chair moving sideways, especially at the front when taking a corner, or if there was an RTA? The front straps surely should be fastened wider than the wheels of the chair?

You need to have the engine running while doing all this. This is to release the restraints.

Poor demonstration. The caregiver or driver shall never be on the lift platform with the wheelchair. It is designed to withhold 1 person in wheelchair. In any event of falling, the caregiver will grab onto anything within his reach, in this case the wheelchair, and fall with it.

My main question is why are none of their tippers on?! they obviously look like they're going to fall over on those curbs - im surprised it only happened once but it may have happened more off camera. They were definitely there so use them!

Make no doubt about it, this chair is lighter than the traditional wheelchair (with the oversized rear wheel.) That large wheel does not lend itself to easy transport. The handles on the Drive Medical chair also fold, making the unit even more compact. Something very interesting to note: the small rear wheel means there's less inertia to overcome when maneuvering the chair, e.g., starting, turning, stopping. Those two large wheels on my mother's old wheelchair used to consume the entire trunk of the car. It once snagged the wiring harness in the back of the trunk. One more thing: I had a question that I emailed to Drive Medical. They replied and satisfactory resolved my concern within 24 hours. That was nice.*

I drive a 2y/o 16 seater Mercedes. I wish I had as much room as this when loading wheelchairs. We couldn't use the front straps (as shown in this clip) as there simply isn't the space. Our tail lift doesn't have a strap that you fasten behind the wheelchair user either - mind you, I've been doing this job nearly 30 years & driven a great deal of different tail-lift vehicles & never have I seen one with a strap. There is a flap on all tail lifts (certainly every one I have seen) which is there to prevent the wheelchair from rolling off. (behind the guy's feet at 53s)

This reminded me of two things from my school days. 1) im a wheelchair user, born with spina bifida, but went to a mainstream school, one day we got a few wheelchairs and some of the able bodied students to spend the day in one, in and outside the school. they basically had the same reaction as these guys . i think its something members of parliament should have to do, specially the Torys who just have no idea. 2) one day in my first year before they realized it was a bit silly for me to have P.E lessons with everyone else, I got dragged on to the rugby field with the rest of them and had to do ball passing practice with the others, with someone pushing me, got absolutely caked in mud on my chair. I reckon that was my Dads doing, he was a friend of the P.E. teacher....git.... I mean im all for trying to do as much as others but theres a limit lol.

This transport wheelchair, on the other hand, only weighs 25 pounds. That changes the situation completely.

Compared to a regular wheelchair with the big tires, this one is a lot easier to get in and out of your car as well as cruising through small areas a regular one has trouble with.
