It's not a bad machine for $200. The computerized ones are also not easy to service yourself. I have a janome US 2004 and if something goes wrong with it i can open it up myself and fix it. You can't do that with most of the more expensive machines.

really unnecessary to feel sorry for people who "fell for" buying it. It's a machine in an inexpensive price range that works quite well. Mine is going 5 years strong and I've sewn everything from slippery silk to heavy denim to tailored jackets with zero issues. I've also sewn on nice industrial machines so have felt the difference; obviously higher end machines are superior, but why would a 300$ machine be as nice as a 1000+ machine? Nowhere does the marketing say it's an industrial machine, I'm really confused by your argument. It's really been a fantastic domestic machine for me.

I'm looking for a machine that is durable, will last long, NO screen/lcd or any other unnecessary electronics (they break, i don't need them, just want simple), has automatic needle-threader, has top-loading bobbin and uses plastic class-15 bobbins. Has all the basic stitches and stretch-stitch for elastics. I'm considering Singer Heavy Duty 4452, as I will need to sew through leather and jeans occasionally. But I heard Singers break a lot (local sewing repair shop told me). Any suggestions pretty please?

Why are you recommending machines that cost $700.00 and up? I have a singer and live it. Mine is Heavy Duty. LOL…..Singer sewing machines are not “SHIT”.

Im so so happy im reading the comments. I am basically trained more than 10years ago to sew and repair fabric. Im researching, i need cheap, im not going to be using this as my main income i just need cheap but reliable as well as able to run through tough thicker materials. I don't have the money for anything like what you're recommending.

I have had quite a few of non heavy duty Singer sewing machines and my Singer Heavy Duty beats them all hands down. So, with that said this little fool is happy with her Christmas present from 2023! By the way saying "that sucks for you if you bought a Singer Heavy Duty Sewing machine" is very rude learn some polite terms to use! You slam Singer then offer something better YOURS nah I'm will only sew on my Heavy Duty Sewing machine and gray is my favorite color!

You've given me points to think about. I've sewn since I was a school-girl, but haven't sewn in the last few years as I've had other things I've needed to deal with. Now I want to get back into it and sew up the stash of fabric that I have in the cupboard. I got my old machine out and thought 'I forgot how much I hate this machine', so I thought it must be time to get a machine that I love. The machine I had before this one was a Janome, I don't know the model, but I bought it when I left school and the metal pieces started breaking. I was devasted. It did weigh a tonne and I could hardly lift it. So the newer ones are better for lightness factor. Now I'm going to list what I hate about my current machine and what I stitches etc I need. Thanks for the video.

Most of this video is just anecdotal nonsense. Been in the textile industry my entire life. Go ask actual, professional repairmen about this machine and most will tell you that it's HD for even the most active home tailor. It's not meant to compete against commercial machines because it's not a commercial machine. This video is a waste of time and meant to stir the pot so this person can shill products for their Amazon account.

Aluminum is soooo much weaker than steel. "Probably can sew leather" isnt a diffinitive argument. Gray is cheaper to make than white. They made it a cheaper outer case because the steel on the inside is more expensive than flimsy aluminum. Definitely limited knowledge. I dont think theyre the best. But your repair guy isnt that smart if he doesnt know basic metals. Those who endorse baby locks are usually selling them. Also, i just find it super annoying when people speak on a public platform and havent taken a public speaking class. It sounds like theres a huge buildup of spit in her cheeks from wearing invisilines and trying to publicly speak. Just sounds opinionated and not really based on facts.

The lady claimed Singer is made of plastic, when Singer shows it has metal frame - this detail makes the entire video a bit questionable (not to mention that the whole video is full of generic statements with very few technical details) ... The machine being advertised seems never came into the frame - what the author was talking about, at the end of the story?

I just started looking into sewing machines, so I don't know much about the market yet, but my first thought was that 'Heavy Duty' meant 'sturdy' and I hadn't considered it could also mean 'for heavy-duty sewing applications'. I took a look at their website, and they vaguely claim both. “With 50% more power and enhanced speed” is the first, and they pretty much leave it at that. There's no information about what it has ‘50% more power and speed’ than. My rule is that when a company makes a claim like that and then stops talking, it pretty much always means something like “…compared to our older models” or “compared to some other company’s market research about similar products”. Then there is “50% more power for thick fabrics” and “Extra high sewing speed”. Same thing as before, if they just stop talking after that, it’s fishy. On the ‘sturdy’ side of the claim, they have a ‘Heavy Duty metal frame’ stamp on their product photos, which is kind of like saying that your restaurant has tea with water in it. I’m sure there is more information about those claims if you dig deeper into it. If I where to end up wanting a ‘Heavy Duty’ line Singer, I would need satisfying answers on those ‘faster and more power’ claims before I would make a purchase, or no deal. On another note, before this video I mixed up ‘frame’ with ‘housing’ in my head, and like you said, the product’s design isn’t exactly trying to give you a different idea. But at that price, it should have been a no-brainer that the housing is hard plastic. Which is a shame, because I am as careful as a golden retriever in a maternity ward when I’m not specifically focused on it. On another another note, I would have so much fun with that Baby Lock Joy. I almost wish it was available here just for the joke of putting a Motörhead sticker on it, like I needed to ‘man up’ a cutesy sewing machine with pink lettering.

I bought my Singer 4411 for this reason. It's simple and I'm a beginner. It's common and easy to find people to repair it when needed or parts for it if need be. I don't want anything too complicated, so I still believe I made the right decision. The price was also right for my budget. A lot of reviewers forget to take affordability into their requirements for being a good product.

I started watching this video because I purchased a singer years ago. Probably around yr. 2000. I used it to make a few things with light fabric. The last time I needed to use it the tension was screwed up. I think I ended up doing hand sewing. I was thinking about purchasing a new machine. Then I thought, if I can figure out how to fix my automobile by watching youtube I can probably figure out how to fix the tension on my machine. Looking at the singer sewing machines for sale online I was wondering if the HD is really HD. I am planning to sew some thick pot holders. If I have to purchase a new machine I want to get one that will sew more than a few items before there are problems. Well, I don't think this woman on the video is saying that there is something wrong with the HD. She seems to be saying what everyone else commenting seems to be saying. The HD is good enough to sew a few heavy duty projects with the right needle and tips on sewing, but probably not on a daily basis over and over again. Because she is saying the machine is not made to be sewing heavy duty jobs in a factory setting. I think she is saying it just won't last for that and the majority of home sewers will not need a machine that a factory uses. I don;t think she is being a snob at all. She said the lower cost machines are good machines for what most people do. She did say she didn't like singer. I have had a new singer and a new brother and had problems with both. I think my problem with the singer is I just don't know how to adjust the tension. The brother was many years ago and the motor died after very little use. Maybe that brand is better now. I don't know. That is why I am watching videos. I learned on my mother's old singer, and I do mean old. It was heavy, black, and in a cabinet. It was from the forties or fifties. It was a reliable machine. That was probably a heavy duty machine by todays standards. I want one like that. A simple machine that is easy to use.

I agree the inscription "Heavy Duty" does not say much about the real quality of the sewing machine. What's absolutely necessary is full metal mechanics. It's essential that there be no plastic parts within the gear. Unfortunately, nowadays most sewing machines including those marked as "heavy duty" have plastic gears (shame on Juki). The best sewing machine you can buy is one that is strictly mechanical, with no display and no chip, with full metal mechanics, that can do just a few types of stitches (straight, zigzag, three-step zigzag, overlock and bordered zigzag), reverse, top quality feed dog system and a few other basic features. I find Janome HD1800 Easy Jeans the best etalon.
