I still haven’t really figured out how to do ERP for mental compulsions cuz thoughts are subtle elusive not concrete.
@MyOCDCoach8 сағат бұрын
@@camillodimaria3288 it’s called imaginal exposure, and I teach it in my programs and coaching sessions. it’s most effective when learned in a structured program or one on one, as follow up is important. One tip I can give you is to respond with those thoughts with _____ May or may not _____. And doing this, you are “leaning into” the uncertainty of the thought. In order for this to be effective, you also have to stop compulsive responses during and after like ruminating.

You need to learn how to respond to the thoughts causing your anxiety instead of just believing them. Also, to allow and not fear the feelings that come up before a panic attack. As soon as you do both of these, you'll never have a panic attack again. If you want more help, you can sign up for a session with me at www.MyOCDCoach.com

@@MyOCDCoach thank you for your thoughtful reply. I have been trying to work on my anxiety on and off for a while but the panic at night and sleep is new recently. I hate it cause I usually love sleep. But I had a panic attack in the night a month or so ago from some stuff & now it feels associated with sleep. I do agree & recently trying your advice from the video and now this comment about not fear the feeling but just let it come in waves. It has helped. I just still love some sleep😭 I will look into booking as realizing having ocd is newer to me (think I’m more the O than C). But thank you I’ll look into booking❤

Is it possible to not do compulsions and still have the thoughts be relentless? I really don’t think I do a compulsion but the thoughts are constant
@MyOCDCoach3 күн бұрын
You have compulsions, you just aren't away of them. For example - trying to get rid of the thoughts, ruminating or analyzing about the topic of your thoughts, checking your thoughts or feelings, to name a few.

For me the problem is I suffer from repetitive religious ocd (scrupulosity) I’m constantly praying for others especially those sick or In need of a prayer I’m also constantly praying and thanking God mostly out of compulsion than actually wanting to due to fear and guilt. It’s hard when I feel I hear that someone’s suffering in some way that I must pray for them and my prayers also have to be “just right” so I redo them over and over again 😖 it’s so exhausting, it’s ruined my relationship with God and my prayer life I wish I could get it all back.

Then I’ll ‘reflect’ on my anxiety/Rocd and bring that thought back up, almost checking if the panicky feelings I had about that thought are still there or if I’m feeling chill and nonchalant about it.
