Hey, idk how much this matters to you, but i figured I’d share cuz you’re a fellow 600 nerd I recorded about 20 of my songs multitracked to protools and every single time the filter track effect is engaged it throws off the tempo by quite a few milliseconds. If you’re ever having sync issues when coming in or out of your filtered track it’s verified at least by me that there’s a little glitch there

Seen one piano player, seen em all! Seen one singer, seen em all! But all kidding aside I agree, most loopers are pretty bad and boring...kinda like most singers, most piano players, most artists, most chefs, most writers, etc. Haha! Thanks for stopping by.

Hey man. I generally do not like live looping but watching the first song “easy” here I realize WHY that is. It’s because watching someone build a song seems to take precedence over the song itself. First time you see it great. But after a couple songs it’s gets to be a bit much. With THAT said….you are the exception. I love how you did Easy and there were minimal if zero gaps as you played the song. It flowed beautifully and because of that the looping element was wildly impressive. Hope you get what I’m saying. This is by no means a comment to dig on you but rather to say you are the prime example Of what live looping SHOULD be. Killed it! Also….try a mashup of Easy into No Woman No Cry over same chords. ;-) I’m Subscribed!!
@MattBoltonMusicКүн бұрын
Thank you. Yes, I get what you are saying and I agree that live looping in general is pretty boring. That's the whole game: fighting against the monotony of the "live looper sound". In general, I really don't like watching loopers so I'm always fighting against that. Trying to make it flow just like a full band is playing, but still not using the dreaded pre-recorded tracks. Ugh. For example, record bass parts while you're singing. Don't build up long tracks. Don't waste time. Be efficient with everything. Don't bore the audience etc. I try to just put on an inspiring, great sounding show and not make it all about the looping. Always thinking "Don't bore us, get to the chorus". Certain songs I give myself a little leeway and will lay down ONE long loop and then record over it while I sing But never multiple passes over long loops. Never multiple songs like that in a row. That is the cardinal sin of looping and the reason why so many people "don't like loopers". I sometimes run into that when being booked by booking agents etc. They think it's gonna be that "boring live looper sound" but after they see me once they get it and I have no problem booking a second gig. Haha. Thanks for stopping by. I'm playing a show tonight at 6pm PST, say hello in the chat!

Thanks! But I have to disagree with your reverb comment. First of all there's not even that much reverb on the vocal. I know what you are calling "reverb"..but it's not reverb. And I like the tone and effects of the vocal and sound that it puts into the mix. Usually when I see bands live, I often hear WAY too dry and poorly mixed vocals that sound terrible. Bad mix. Bad EQ. You've heard it a million times: The "bad bar band vocal sound". And I think it's because people don't know how to use reverb, compression, eq and effects properly. I'm constantly asked by venue staff, managers, bartenders, patrons, sound persons etc why my mix and vocals sound so much clearer and better than most of the other bands that play at the venue. So🤷♂️
