Just wondering how you have such a low electric bill? Ours runs about 8500 pesos per month(4 people). The rates here in Cebu City are very expensive which runs about 13.5 pesos per KWH(including taxes/fees). We do run the A/C a little but with all the other electrical gadgets, I still think our bill would be around 5000 pesos a month. We use on AVG about 630 KWH per month. We have a big TV, computers, 6 fans, water dispenser cooler/heating, about 8hrs on avg A/C, fridge, lights, charging gadgets, electric stove, microwave oven and shower heaters.

Last summer the electricity charge us around ₱13 per kw but now they lower it. My wife bought a cheap ₱250 efan in shoppee that has 15kw consumption. When we first moved to our house our electric bill range from 4-5k pesos a month but when my wife bought these fan our electricity went down to ₱1500 or less. We have 2 tv’s, gadgets, 4 efan, microwave, coffee pot, Automatic washing machine, rice cooker etc. We dont have water heater though.

You certainly probably already looked into this, but just in case have not here is my question. Are you able to withdraw from your 401k penalty free using the rule of 55? I retired early from my company and our plan allows for the rule of 55. So essentially if you are 55 years and older you can make up to 9 withdrawals per year penalty free. That allows you to have access to that money prior to 59 1/2 years of age. You will pay income tax on those withdrawals if it was not a Roth 401k investment. Not all company 401k plans participate, and allow their employees to have access to that money early, so for everyone else that is still working and thinking about retiring early, ask your HR or 401k management company. It sounds like the 2.2 million php you have available should last easily for a little over a year.

Yes I talked with our HR before I retired from work but I try not to pay the penalty so we’re budgeting our money since we moved here. So far so good and I’ll just need to wait another year to get my 401k money so we’re still ok.

I have a similar problem. I was diagnosed about 4 months ago. It is called retinal vein occlusion (RVO). I have been receiving injections by a Retina Surgeon here in Georgia for the past 3 months. 1 shot each 4 weeks to my left blurry eye. I also have BCBS insurance with no Medicare, and I'm paying $175.00 out of pocket each time, which is a strain on our budget. I have not seen an improvement yet, but I read it takes like 6 months to see results. So I will let you know how my ordeal goes down, and I will watch to see how you make out in the Philippines and compare it to here in the US. I know it's quite frustrating not understanding all this crazy medical problems we are both having. Good luck to you Jerry. Sincerely Yours ; Bill in Georgia....
