Great Video 👍 honest budget breakdown and wish you guys all the best.🙏 Unfortunately health is a big issue and it can kill your budget real quick if you don't have it. This video just reinforces for everyone savings is not enough and don't move to the Philippines unless you have a steady income each month.

Hey guys thanks for the video and sharing the honest budget. Yeah, I don't get it either why it's such a secret with some people to say exactly how much have for a budget or have spent, it's not like we're going to come and steal it, plus it gives people a real idea of what it takes to live there on a strict budget. Are you able to apply for SSDI because of your stoke? I'm sure you already thought of that. We are pretty lucky I got my SSDI, and small pension while still in the USA at age 56 now turning 59 next month. Take care Willie & Bernadette Bacolod City

I know right. I have a friend that got a stroke and went back to US and tried to apply SSDI but they said they still need to verify it for a year so he just came back here. For me I dont try it because I dont want to go back to US just to apply for it. Just trying to be healtjy here until I get my 401k. Good for you that you got yours. Thanks for watching.

@@jerryandnelmainthephilippi3340 Oh yeah one thing I found out about my Roth IRA I could start withdrawing with out “early withdraw penalty” because I have a disability, I think the 401 has the same clause. Might be worth checking out if you run low on cash.. But then now that the market has roared back would be wise to leave it there if you can and try to catch it on the peek of this swing before a correction… TC Willie & Bernadette Bacolod City

You don't always have to wait for 59.5 to access 401K money. There is a 'rule of 55' which says you can access your 401K penalty free if you leave your job for any reason (quitting, fired, laid off, etc) in the year you turn 55 or older. This only applies to 401Ks, not IRAs, if I remember correctly. So if you find yourself 55 years old and can't stand your job or you get laid off you don't have to scrimp and save until 59.5 if you have trouble finding another job.
@jerryandnelmainthephilippi3340

VERY IMPORTANT!! Hi guys! Jerry, at 59 1/2, you can draw out your 401k. If it's conventional, you still pay taxes, but you have to do that anyway. Your standard deduction is a little over 25,000 dollars, so as long as you dont withdraw more than that, you will get all taxes paid back when you file taxes. If your 401k is a Roth, then you already paid taxes and can withdraw taxfree. It sounds like you're 61 now, so you can withdraw your 401k money without penalty. Please check it out. Take care. And Jerry, i haven't seen one of your videos in a while. You are sounding and doing great! Much better!

I'm also planning to settle in Philippines bec housing is no longer affordable in the US. For now, I'm building up cash flow by buying stocks that pay dividends. I put $10k in one stock and it pays about $400 a month. Overall, I think I'm getting about $1400 in dividends with various stocks. When i get it at $2k a month, i plan to move over to Philippines so it serves as a mini pension until social security kicks in in another 5 years. I had my 401k converted to an IRA and managed by professional financial advisors. I'm hoping and expecting they make me a free million bucks. When or if they do, even if they make half, I'll take that and invest in rental properties and more equities and leave the rest with the FA to quadruple perpetually. The budget and expense videos help me in planning ahead. Based on what I'm getting from equities passively, i think if you have $40k-$60k, that can just about make $2k a month which maybe enough to retire in Philippines or other countries with lower costs. Just saying.

I heard you mention in a previous video that Jerry was in the military for a few years. Has Jerry looked into filing a VA claim to see if he service connected issues that would entitle him to VA compensation pay? I am retired military and I have my VA disability rating and it helps out with living here in the Philippines. I'm in Bacolod so i'm on the same island as you guys now and I was previously living up in Vigan. As long as you were honorably discharged you are eligible. You just have to have a service connected disability hearing is a big one. Then contact your VA center. They have people there t9 help you navigate and they will even d9 the application for you. Any injuries sustained while on active duty and were documented in your medical records.

@@davidhankins5708 it’s easier if you file it yourself here in the Philippines. I did my own claim from start to finish here and that’s why I’m asking Jerry these questions. Hopefully he has something in his record or work history that will help him get service connected with something that’ll help get him in. I’m 100% P&T and had to figure out how to do the whole process on my own but luckily there is an awesome KZfaqr called CombatCraig who puts together the best videos for navigating the VA claim process and I was able to file my claim online out here in the Philippines.

A lot of pinay say it is a lot easier to marry a white foreigner and live a good (rich life compared to ordinary pinoy life) and live life in Phils instead of being OFW, especially the single moms so they can live in Phils with their kids and don't have to ever work again. Some pinay will admit that white foreigner = Filipino lottery. lol Nelma, Did Jerry's sister say he should not marry you and that you just wanted him for the money and abetter life? That's awesome that Jerry was able to retire and quit his job at 54 years old and never work again.

Why blame Jerry for every thing. lol You know the value of a foreigner...even if you pretend not too. lol And, that life is much easier once pinay have a foreigner. I guess you don't like what most pinay say. Pinoy anger is real! lol I am sure you are more happy having a foreigner instead of being ofw .
