I watched this video and one other 4 years ago just because it was there. Walked out to my pool equipment today and could smell burnt wire..Readout says low cell voltage. I had it apart in 5 minutes and repaired another 5 and back together in 5 more. Thanks to you and one other site. Checked today and a new pro logic mother board is $990. not including labor. I did order a new relay switch which is the item that overheats and burns up the connection pin and melts the board. $11 for that relay and will change it one day when it gets cold out. Thanks again.

Was trouble shooting and came across this video. I had called my pool guy and he said most likely needs a new board but also said he’s not a computer guy so he called a tech who said 98% chance it needs a new board. Figured I had nothing to lose so I pulled board out myself and had the connection soldered at a local stereo shop for $20 and I’ll be damned it fixed it. After seeing all the inquiries this should be a recall in my eyes. Just my ex two cents worth maybe one…

I had a brand new motherboard ready to do a quick swap today. When I flipped the current motherboard over and saw a burnt spot, I decided to desolder and resolder one of the K1 legs as you suggested here. 10 minutes later, bam! Power was generated to the T-Cell with readings, and the error ... gone!!!! Had to comment to thank you for saving me $$$.

Hmm, that's really strange. The whole pool? I believe those two things may be unrelated. Not sure I can see how turning your cell back on would cause algae to all of the sudden bloom. You were re-enabling the saltwater to chlorine transition, which would slow down such a thing, not accelerate it. Sounds like a coincidence and a common algae bloom. Was your pump/filter off for a while before you fixed the cell? If so, I wonder if you had a bloom in the works and it came out once you turned everything back on.

I did have the filter off for a few hours during the day. the salt level reads 3200 PPM and everything on the readouts look good. I backwashed and added two 40 lb. bags of salt. I hope it clears up tomorrow. We shall see.

I shocked the pool with 3 gallons of liquid shock and 1 gallon of algaecide on Monday. The pool looks great and all the settings on the aqualogic panel seems to be working with no errors. The issue I have now is that my lights in the pool are not going on. My lights were working fine before the no cell power error. Once the error occurred I noticed the lights weren't working. Do you think this has anything to do with this? I really appreciate your input. Thanks!

Just fixed mine. Question, the old solder was dark like burnt and almost all gone behind K1. I cleaned it up as best I could using the braid and put new solder, turned it on and it's working. I'm just a little skeptical that the repair will last. Anyone have any thoughts?

All I know is that I used to have to do it every few months. It wasn't consistent. But I haven't had to do it in a couple of years now. Not sure if I just finally got it right or some other variable is in play. Good news is that even if it lasts only a few months, it's a quick and free fix.

Thanks for the info. It cost me $28 for the soldering iron. That's a lot better than $500 for a new panel. This is our second panel in 5 years. The capacitors went on the first one after a lightning strike. Anyway, thanks again!!

Thanks for this fix! 7 years later and still useful. Cant say that for many KZfaq videos. Well my day off to fix this really paid off. Another tip besides the last couple of posts (sanding to take away the molten flux or getting rid of carbonized plastic) is to add lots of rosin. The rosin will prevent the formation of a cold junction. There could be some rosin in your solder, but not enough to rework the bad connection. That is perhaps why some folks here are fixing the K1 relay over and over again. Next time it will happen to me, I will take the board off and etch or scratch the part on the PCB that makes the bad connection to this relay. It may increase the surface area for the current to go through and to make a proper weld. Now I know why they install current limiters on their boards!
@emrysx
@emrysx 8 жыл бұрын
awesome. Thanks for the info. You clearly know much more about soldering than I did when I made the video. I can't remember whether my solder was the kind with rosin in the middle or not now. I haven't had to re-do it in a couple of years now, so maybe the last time I used better solder. Thanks again for sharing!

Appreciate this video! I have the same problem as everyone else here. I've given it a few tries, but no luck just yet. However, I did find the old nocellpower website stored in the internet archive (a great place to find almost any website that used to exist but has since disappeared). The website is here: web.archive.org/web/20111229000028/www.nocellpower.com/ Inside the archive you can still navigate the pages, see the steps and see the pictures (and the link back to here). There is also a link to a nice video on "how to soder" store.curiousinventor.com/guides/How_To_Solder Thanks again for the post. Hopefully I'll have good news to report soon.

wow, I didn't realize that archive was available. I did do the solder job last year and it has worked great up until this week. Now I get the "No cell power 2" error. (I don't think it was a "2") last time. While this video here might seem super old, it's still super useful. I'll see if I can't host up the nocellpower.com information just in case, and will let you know if a second solder job will do the trick or if that K2 switch needs changing entirely. Thanks again, wish me luck!

Amazing. My unit looked exactly like this. Borrowed a soldering iron from my Father-in-law. Sanded the contact to get rid of the oxidization. Heated it - touched the solder. Let it cool for a minute. Put everything back together and powered everything back up. I did it where it hung all connected but no power. Worked like a charge. Best feeling to see everything working and no "Service" light. Perfect tutorial. Thanks so much !

Mine is genuine and about 15 years old. I could clearly see the contact point that had burned out. Also (carefully!) with the power on, I applied pressure to this point in the board and the cell starting generating voltage. But be very careful as there's a lot of "hot" wires inside the box, of course.

Wow I figured what would be the worst case scenario due to the location of the soder material... I wasn't going to touch any additional circuitry and all power was off . I borrowed a soldering iron from my neighbor who also had the proper soder materials which were designed for electronics , I gave it 4 tests for heat and the perfect puddle, and less than 10 minutes later I was up and running and I could see the amps and the salt system gaining momentum . You saved me big bucks...I I can't than you enough! Can I send booze or flowers lol

I was extremely skeptical but in less than 20 minutes I was back in business. The board smelled from the burnt connection but I heated up the ol' soldering gun and applies a generous portion of solder. I just loosed the two nuts, lifted the board, tilted it forward to a laid down position and soldered it in place. both circuit breakers off inside the box. Thanks so much!!! Working perfectly!!!
