She makes it look so easy. I need to get my cat to watch this. 😆

Don't grab the cat by the scruff of the neck. It is not a tiny kitten being picked up by the mother. Not only can it injure the cat but also scares them.

So you need to take your cat to the vet and know it doesn't like carriers. All these how tos saying put your carrier out for weeks so the cat is comfortable around it. My cat is sick and needs to go now not next month! lol

Our girl cat hated us for a few days after we put them in the (double) carrier to take them to the vet. The boy was fine the whole time, but our girl was... Oof! *ETA:* The boy had also been in a carrier before for an emergency vet visit, but even that first time he was just chill.

Ha! If I tried this with any of my 7 cats I’d be in the hospital for days recovering from puncture wounds and lacerations to every limb and finger!

I tried to open her mouth and she chewed through my finger yesterday. It was quite unpleasant and bloody. I wasn't upset with her but I was very surprised at the strength of her jaw. Now my finger is infected and I still need to give the medication... very nervous about this as I don't want to experience the pain again. Also got a couple of good scratches for bonus points.

My poor 18 year old was too weak to fight me, but I used the towel anyway. Worked great, though the pain killer is bitter so she drooled like crazy. Had a massive infection (twice in a month) in her mouth, which was very painful. Luckily, my vet loves me and charged me very little for dental surgery.

Try it with a cat who is not used to these things, and with a medicine that tastes awful to them in the syringe.

update: discovered my cat will accept a syringe in the mouth if i hold him on my hip and shoulder like one would hold a todler and look him in the eye. only for those meds that dont taste awful, though. and sometimes he refuses to open his mouth but he eventually does. it's such a stark contrast to when we were making a big fuss and trying to do it with two people. problem is, i'm the only one who he will accept it from and it has to be done twice a day for the rest of his life.

It's so weird how is cat owners still care for these little shits after they give us nasty looking scars. One of my old cats gave me really bad ones on my hand and wrist, and now I get uncomfortable when people see it and I feel like they think I cut myself. When I catch people staring for too long, I say "cat" and hold up the scarred hand.

Let me tell you a trik that worked for my cat that keep spitting the pills. I took a little bit of bread and i placed the pill inside ( just to cover it) and made a round ball. I dipped the bread in a little vegetable oil to make it slippery and that worked. So the bread keeps the pill form stiking to gums and tongue and is also easy to deform in the mouth and the oil helps going down. Worked great for us. Thank me later.😸

If administering a pill and a liquid, do the pill first because the liquid will help to push the pill down. Even a little water afterwards via syringe is a great idea (check ok with vet first). How many times have you taken a pill dry? Um, never? A little water afterwards stops it being stuck in the throat and oesophagus. Thx for the video and sharing your lovely cat with us, he is adorable!
