I heard this song thousands of times growing up, I'm 54, and my mom always listened to the classics from the 50s & 60s. When her father, my grandfather, died in 1994, on the very long drive to the cemetery, I remember this song came on the radio. She sang along & I knew I would never hear this song the same way again. Now, as my mom approaches the end, this song has even more meaning

Beautiful musical era, but so sadly racist when even the black performers weren’t allowed to enjoy a meal in the restaurant . 😢

I liked Hot Pastrami with Mashed Potatoes more. Joey was Mr. Twister, he threw that little jump in there. Years later I saw the Cramps at the Peppermint Lounge

Muy pocos cantantes hoy en dia hacen juego con las voces para ir al compás de la música como lo hacia esta gente. Guaooo!!!

Anyone know the guitar player on the original version. I’ve heard stories of Joe Pesci or Frank Vincent having some connection.

Here in the comment section there are lots of postings about how this song reminds them of first dating their sweethearts and how all these years later, they’re still together! .(Soo cool to hear!) Mines are a little different, lol. My two songs are “Evil Ways” and “Black Magic Woman” by Santana and how they painfully remind me of my “baby’s mom” who 45 years later, still gives me headaches! Lol
