I've watched this video a hundred times, every time I make mossy bases using it. You will be sorely missed, brother, you were one of the few that just *did a guide* and didn't waste time.

I miss Rob very much, his videos were great and got me into Warhammer painting. Rob was also a talented video game developer and I think he worked in said industry; he brought out an indie game that he developed - a 2D shooter I believe it was.

RIP Rob you were the first person I started watching when I got into the hobby. You are greatly missed.

@@xelalex1714yes, there's a written announcement made by his partner on the community section of his youtube page. Very sad, I didn't know him personally but his tutorials are the best around.

Fantastic video. Also a video about trusting the process, because half of the time i thought that you ruined it, only to be proven wrong by a fantastic effect. It is truly surprising how things change in this hobby when they completely dry.

i still use this style after many years, take a long time to do, but heck it's worth it.

I'll be going for my own scheme for the rest of his gear, but I absolutely love your colour scheme for the skin tones! Much grittier and darker (a perfect fit for 40k) than a lot of the SUPER cartoony greens I see in a lot of videos.

Rob sorry to hear that you passed away. You were a great minis painter and I've still a lot to learn from you. Also you were a videogame developer, the world is much poorer without you being here. RIP

I cannot wait to paint my engines like this. And the excellent thing about this video (I think) is that, Let's say you have an engine, brand new, Never before used (Praise the Omnissiah) you can do the same thing, just skip the rust and green steps. You're a genius. Thanks sincerely for this video. I'm so stoked.

Thanks for this nice video. I suggest adding dark blue or dark violet to the shadow instead of black to add color variations. similarily I add orange or reddish colors to the midtones.

Excellent tips, thanks. I think dry brushing allows for a more subtle effect if that's what your looking for. I'm going to experiment with a final coat of transparent smoke to help blend the layers together.

One way to do this if you dont have micro set and micro sol is to just lightly score the transfer in a star pattern around the decal. You dont want to apply enough pressure to cut the back paper. Its a pain but it worked perfect for my dark angels for years until i finally bought micro set and sol

Wondering, if I could apply this scheme and then slapchop the rest of the materials? I guess liquid masking would work here?

I love these little guys so much. I'm considering buying the mini's even though I don't even play warhammer. I was just looking for a metal bad moon for one of my other minis but have yet to find one on a mini that's not like 80 bucks. but then i came across these guys and im so tempted. but i feel like its a waste to buy minis for a game i dont even play

do you put the flow improver on your palette or in your paint container?
@lallsta_paints10 ай бұрын
Hi Tom, sadly Rob passed away in 2022. My advice would be to use the flow improver with the paint on the palette, the same way you would if you were thinning with water. Have a few drops of the paint and a drop of the flow improver separate and take a little bit of the flow improver and mix it into the paint until you get the desired consistency 😊

Do you need sansodor/white spirit to clean the excess wash or could you use another solvent, like alcohol?
@glowmilk794810 ай бұрын
Gorgeous!! Can you reuse the wipe for another base or is it a one-and-done thing? I'm tentatively starting a Sisters of Battle army so I can use any tips I can get 😅
