Hey there Sendcookiesnow! I’m so glad you feel you got some value from this video. It can definitely be a struggle and I want others to know they’re not aline in these thoughts. Make sure to talk to a medical professional for an accurate diagnosis if you are seeing some of these symptoms. Life gets hard especially with ADHD, but you’re not alone. Sending you great big hugs

Shay! I have ADHD and I never understood why I started and stopped so many things. You explained this so well. I actually didn't know that people with ADHD had lower dopamine. I'm also struggling to keep myself motivated with my Etsy shop, but just taking it day by day. Thanks for a great video. I hope you keep talking about your ADHD journey.

Hey there Liz, Shay here... I'm learning SO much about my ADHD and it's insane. I only thought that ADHD had to do with not being able to pay attention or concentrate, but there's SO much more to it. So glad this helped and hope we can share this journey together. I will most definitely continue talking about it and dealing with my Etsy shop. It's definitely a struggle to stay motivated, but we can do this! We just have to figure out what works for us individually. For me, I don't want to give up because I don't want to let myself down and I know that Etsy works.

Can you explain to me do you keep your room clean? My daughter will clean up her room in the next day or two is a total mess. Have you overcome that if you have overcome that what do you do to solve it?
@NoFriendLeftBehind
@NoFriendLeftBehind 2 күн бұрын
Hey there, it's Shay! I want to start off again by saying I'm not a medical professional, but these are things I've noticed along my journey or that I've learned about. So I hate a messy room and living space, and I'm constantly mopping or dusting and I "clean" some areas. Now I put clean in quotations because what someone with ADHD tends to do, is place things in piles because they're unsure of what to do with everything. It becomes overwhelming trying to figure out what to toss or what to keep, because we think we'll need something later on (or whatever reason we come up with), so we end up keeping more than we should. Eventually we'll get so tired of seeing the mess that either everything will get tossed or we'll actually take the time out to sort it out because we realize that we don't need it at all or we're just tired of seeing the pile. When I was younger, I would make a huge mess of my room and eventually would clean it up, but only when I was ready. Of course, nobody knew what was going on with me when I was younger, so we never took the time to figure out why I was the way I was. I would suggest making it a little interesting for your daughter to keep her interested in keeping her room clean (or as interested as a kid would be in cleaning). Maybe with some sort of incentive or some sort of game. The dopamine levels just need to be triggered. Sorry that was so long, but I hope it helps. :)

Shay here, and I'm glad this can give you a little insight to what you're daughter may be going through. She may not even understand everything that's going on with her. It can be frustrating for an individual with ADHD and a lot of times we're not the best at communicating. I'll keep sharing what's going on with my ADHD and also my Etsy journey.

Shay SOOOO much of this rings true with me as well…. And the oddest thing is it seems the more stressed or pressure I am under the MORE I take on - because the pressure becomes the dopamine replacement. However the upside of this is …. It prevents me from backing away from my ultimate goal…. The downside is I have to be careful not to burn out. BALANCE BABY BALANCE ❤

I'm so looking forward to watching more videos from this channel and catching up on the videos I've missed so far. I'm a new fan of Shawna's original channel which led me here. My "why" is for my retirement and for my family. I'm not yet close to retirement but I am the youngest of 8 and more than half my family is retired. And although they are enjoying life, they are also budgeting; not knowing exactly if what they have will be enough and some are a bit bored in their day to day. I started my shop because in 15 years I want to have something to do when I retire. I'm starting with POD but I want to move to physical products and along this journey, I want to bring my family along and have a family business. That is my long term why. My short term why is to make the seed money now that is necessary to make that other dream happen. The retirement benefits from my current job are too good for me to walk away from so I will not leave my job no matter how well this goes. But, who's to say I don't hire different siblings to manage customer service, or listing, or help with descriptions and SEO. Give them something to do, put a little money in their pocket, and keep scaling and growing this as much as we can. I truly want to thank you all for putting your journeys and lessons learned out there for other people to learn from and be inspired by.

I started in November 2023 and have 35 sales. My why is to be able to retire. I just turned 61 and pretty much have nothing saved. When I married my husband we were always taking in his nieces and nephews because their home lives weren't always the best, at one point in our early 20's we had 5 kids, it was like that through our whole marriage. Unfortunately, it was real easy to get money from my 401k ( we can make it up, we have time ). Well kids needs came first and time flies fast. He recently passed away, I used most of the life insurance to pay down my mortgage, thank goodness it was when rates were low. So my why is so I can pay off my house, save for retirement and have an income I can live on after retirement. Thank you, Shawna for all your videos and invaluable information and to your friends for sharing their journeys.

Thank-you for this video, I love the inspiration and I get the energy to keep moving forward despite of my doubts. My doubts are that i might not be creative enough to make a living from my Etsy shop. I have been trying for a few years and I have to admit that I wasn't doing my research like you said. :) but now I am. My sales for May double! so, for me that is my inspiration to keep moving forward. I tell myself that it is possible that I might be able to support my family with this business. It's very important to me that my kids see me making a living from this business to teach them that if you work hard at something and don't give up, anything is possible. (They complain at times about me spending too much time in front of my computer :)).

I still have to work on marketing which j have no clue on how to do it

My doubt is that I will never properly get all my duck in a row so I can make a regular income. I’m working hours every day, whenever I’m not at my usual job, working on my listing and while my visits are increasing I’m not getting many sales. I’m running ads and am losing money and Etsy are keeping a third of my payments for whatever reason they say. I won’t be giving up but I just want more return for all the work I’m putting in. It gets frustrating at times.

Great video! I had two best sellers on new listings I put up at the end of April. They took off like wildfire. There has now been a bit of a slowdown, but when I start to doubt myself, I remind myself that I created these two awesome listings - and there is no reason why I can’t do it again. Taking Shawna’s words to keep listing, do market research, and reflection instead of feeling sorry for myself Having that feeling of 2 best sellers going crazy is also a good reminder then I CAN do this. It is possible. I just have to keep doing the things and reflecting on how I can be better.

With all the occasions to celebrate, professions, themes etc. I wish we had access to 50 sections. lol Ok that's not realistic. But I have some of my listings just sitting in no section, because they don't fit. Can you share any info on that please?
