Ai is also a general term and its a method of making a highly intelligent algorithm (ai is more than an algorithm but for the sake of argument to keep it simple take it as one) generative ai goes beyond generating images, an ai can be trained to many sets of data and many changing environments, it can be taught to drive a car or play a game or to write a novel or to cure illnesses and to make new medicine and improve medicine, can assist learning with human like interactions, help indie creators source material (sound samples, images any sort of workforce someone can't handle themselves), llms can pretty much summarize large documents for you, for predictive applications, security systems, moderation systems, any human work that otherwise needs repetitive but not necessarily hard work, robots utilizing ai that perform surgeries is being studied and developed (might just save your life one day). I can go on, I could've used an ai to write this comment, I did not. Ai is more nuanced than just being the future, it is a platform being adopted by many, I am sorry if you are scared of being irrelevant one day but don't worry, do art for art and people who love your stuff will not settle for anything less than your genuine work, ai datasets might be stealing your works and training models on them, while bad for the morals is that truly a reason to devalue your work? Even if you narrowed your view to generative image models, that has many legitimate uses beyond creating art. Your are purposely ignoring the greatest tech development since programming and small form factor computers with motherboards.
