Imagine becoming a law enforcement officer and getting this god-like complex and making it your entire personality. When he leaves law enforcement, and it will happen, he’ll have nothing left to base his personality off of 🤣

I love when cops pretend like they have never committed a traffic violation in their lives. Never drove through a red light, rolled a stop sign, drove over the speed limit, crossed a double yellow???

I can't get over the fact that you send this girl out there in a car that looks like a police car, has lights like a police car, takes crash reports like a police officer, wears a vest and a uniform that says police on it, enforces parking like a police officer, and not arm her. The uniform puts a target on her back by its very nature. Get this lady on the range and get her qualified or have your traffic unit sworn positions handle the crash reports. You're going to get this person assaulted and killed.

This officer explained here tasks quite well. I did the same job for 7 years (different title) in another county in Florida. She’s listening to the same channel the deputies/police are in that area. If a crime is dispatched nearby, she will drive away. But when a traffic signal goes out, she will be in that intersection for hours until it is fixed. Someone has to do it and her not being law enforcement makes her the best trained person to do it. I always said I got to do the ‘unfun’ stuff so the gun could do the gun stuff. The cop received much more expensive training and is paid much more. That’s why her unit is so cost effective to the city or county. Your average cop is not the person you want responding to your crash. They may have worked two or three simple crashes in their training and they are much more proficient in criminal matters. This person (if like my unit) received considerable crash investigation training and can work a crash easily. Three to five crashes a day every day of your shift week along with your training and you can see very subtle things many would miss. Actually, driver, what you just said didn’t happen. Look at these tire marks and the scrape marks on the vehicle. This is what actually happened and where it happened. Not that bluntly, but it becomes very evident with a little observation.

Which is precisely why I learned early on to issue the $15 county citation. Not the $185 state citation the first time because that seemed harsh. I found if I got into your pocket book even for $15, I got your attention. A Warning for something they probably got away with 100 times proved useless as you so aptly described. But I let them know I issued the $15 county citation once. I issued the second citation of the state citation only about 6 times over 7 years. There was never a third time. But, you illegally park once in a handicap spot and you earned the $245 citation.

The entitlement of the guy in the truck is disgusting. So everyone who has ever sustained damage to their vehicle in a parking lot now has the authority to park in a fire lane as long as they have a receipt. As soon as I heard that lame ass excuse I'd have torn up the warning and written the ticket.
@feversol
@feversol 23 сағат бұрын
These officers hear every form of excuse at every contact. The requirement is to be polite and explain the law that stopping, standing or parking are all treated the same in Florida. Seeing an illegally parked vehicle with its flashers on is virtually acknowledgement they know they’re wrong. What IS permitted is dropping or your party or picking up the passenger or loading. Not going into to get stuff to load but pulling up to load.

I was T-Boned on a neighborhood intersection (he ran a stop sign in his own area) and a TAI responded. I had some scraping from the seatbelts and airbags, and the fire department urged me not to go to the hospital due to COVID concerns. I don't know if he was issued a citation, but I never heard anything about that. His insurance was forced to step up to the plate by mine.
@feversol
@feversol Күн бұрын
The issuance of a citation is at the sole discretion of the investigator. It also has zero to do with ‘at fault’. Your crash report identifies the at fault party and that’s what your insurance company needs. Some insurance companies try to weasel out by saying ‘they didn’t get a citation.’ That is irrelevant and means nothing.

I usually issued a $15 county citation instead of the UTC for the first time. One time after a verbal thrashing, I decided $185 UTC had been earned. Be polite and ask for the signature knowing (at the time) that a refusal to sign meant I called a deputy and they got to ride in the back of a caged car. And I got to call for a tow truck for their illegally parked vehicle. Then I coded out the call with Dispatch with a Code Mike (citation issued), Code 1 (report submitted for towed vehicle) and Kilo to [deputy] (assisted deputy). And the $185 UTC was in their personal property when they got out of jail.
