All these yankees fans worried about us like this wasn’t a rebuild year it’s ok we’ll see who’s laughing when y’all get swept in the wildcard and lose soto cause we all know little Steinbrenner ain’t going band for band with Steve cohen

Right now Judge is better. More homeruns. Did soto get 62 hrs? Batting Ave. The same. Fielding better. How can Soto be better. He is older but I'm talking about right now he is better. How could Soto be better?

I think LA Dodger Ohatani’s in a hitting slump ! He’s out of the leader page in all five categories : Batting average # of Home runs # of RBI # of Hits # of Stolen bases Without pitching on the mount, Ohatani’s “二刀流"先变成"一刀流" Without outstanding hitting at the bat, 现在"一刀流"又淪为"半刀流"了 I just wonder when & if his performance on the baseball field, or lack of it, would impact MLB’s coverup of his gamble scandal implications

Understood but let’s be honest then about 9 seasons. They are starting him in 2016 where he only played in like in 20 games, then the short Covid 2020 season where he played in 28 games plus all his injury shortened seasons. He has only played in just over 5-1/2 seasons of baseball. It’s not close as a prolific power hitter he is above those guys, easily, right now in his career. Don’t get me wrong, i don’t think he holds a candle to the complete players Gehrig and DiMaggio were, but he is also still getting better. Enjoy it.

For all the talk about the Yankees lineup mashing, the O's have more HR's and more runs/game. The O's also have the 2nd best FIP in baseball only behind the Phillies.

You have a point, but as good as some guys have been for Baltimore, not a one of them approaches what Judge has been doing. And that factors into what people talk about. And having the top two MVP candidates in the league doesn't happen often. Plus, and I don't say this to gloat as a Yankees fan, they're the Yankees. And Yankees move the needle more than the O's, who are a TERRIFIC and incredibly fun to watch team.

If the Yankees continue to let Soto "be himself" he will want to stay here. They have a habit of messing with players that display emotion, and personality. Best leave him alone because that guy is not only a talent, his spirit should not be broken. Don't deny it Yankees. Your corporate nonsense at times ticks off players. Stop taking away their individual personality's it is 2024! Fans like high talent with flair! Take note.

Soto has come here and produced in spades. Compare him to that goof Joey Gallo during his time here and the difference is stark. The Dodgers have a ton of money on the books, the Angels have a lot of money on the books and Trout is ALWAYS HURT. He doesn’t want to be a stinkin’ Red Sox. Who else can pay him AND also be competitive?

Don, I love most of your takes my dude, but I think you’re off on this one. Mets are an absolute joke both as an organization and a team right now and the Yankees are just that much better of an organization (despite all their problems) and team when compared to the Mets. I simply don’t see Soto leaving the Yankees to go to the Mets, that would be an asinine move for Soto to make even if he gets offered more from the Mets. The Mets need an entire rebuild from scratch and despite how much of a beast Soto is he isn’t going to fix all their problems all by himself.

Remember, Yanks are already paying Soto $31m this year. So even if they have to pay him $55m a year, they only have to shave $24m off the payroll, which they can do by not resigning Rizzo and Torres. DJ moves to 1B and Peraza takes over 2B. In addition, Grisham and Verdugo are also FAs. Grisham is almost certainly gone since we have Dominguez so that’s another $5.5m off the books. Verdugo I think it’s 50/50 whether he’ll be back. He’ll likely get $15-$20m a year in the open market, which may be too rich for the Yanks as they have to prioritize keeping Soto.

There’s more value to being a Yankee than being on any other team. There are billionaires who have been Yankees. If you become a Yankee legend, you are in a different category of player. Mike Trout will be the greatest player of his generation, but only baseball diehards will remember him in 30 years. Everyone knows Jeter, Paul O’Neil, Mariano, Bernie, because they won on the Yankees. Boras might not care about that, and that’s his job as an agent, but Soto gets it. He ain’t going to the Mets where it took them 40 years to retire Daryl Strawberry’s number

Obviously no one knows what Soto will decided, but if Yankees offers 500 mil for 10 years and any other teams offers 600 mil for 10 years as a players who has to grind out excitement and energy for 162 games is really worth to go to a bad organization just for a bigger contract? If a player get 500 mil what it there that he can't get in life? also playing with Yankees gives Soto a bigger stage and platform to make more money as a Yankee than any other team and he can also be remembered amongst the Yankees baseball great's and he will playing in front of his family and community in the Bronx. I just believe if he leaves the Yankees for a larger contract he would be making huge mistake because Soto seems to fit like a glove in the Yankees Stadium Bronx and looks extremely comfortable as a Yankee! Unlike when he was with an that all-star team the Padres he did not seen as comfortable and his game seemed to suffered a bit.

How do the Yankees even negotiate with Scott Boras? If the Yankees offered $500M/10 years ($50M AAV) right now, Boras would just establish that as the initial floor for free agency bids. That is the same for $550M or even $600M. The Yankees need to sit back and see what the offers are before making their one, final bid. Otherwise, they will just be bidding against themselves.
