You also vastly over estimate the pros skill and knowledge. They hardly ever do a manual j in my area, inverter based heat pumps don’t need it because they have variable compressors, just oversize.

I self installed the mr cool diy 4 zone a few years ago. 1/3rd the cost of the pros and I had fun doing it. It took about 3 days for me and one day for my dad who helped out. No license required, I talked to the town and they said homeowners just need an electrical permit, that’s it. Special tools aren’t that expensive. I just bought crows feet wrenches instead of an hvac torque wrench. Also it’s worked down to 5 degrees fwiw.

Thank you for helping me understand that this is definitely NOT a one person job! My husband and I are quite handy, but hearing your first hand account of what it takes to put this together, helped convince me that this is best left up to the pros!! Kudos to you for hanging in there and sticking the course, phew! You made it!! And thank you for making this very honest, and helpful video. Cheers!

The contractor should have been the one calling the concrete supplier. Not the customer. Any contractor should be contacting the supplier. It makes the customer experience less stressful.

ALSO KEEP THEM ON 2 feet or 4 feet intervals when you are installing or designing no damn creative bs where you think you know all THERE IS STRUCTURAL REASONS TO DISPLACE WEIGHT IN LOAD BEARING KEEP IT AT 2 or 4 FEET MAX FOR PURLINS ! DESIGN SIMPLY NOW ODD SIZES PEOPLE !

please everyone never do what he did never never never! first never level and cut as you go the structure was cut proper so put it together they move as you install so how do you make proper? USE PYTHAGOREOM THEORY AND SQUARE IT UP AT CORNERS SORNERS ALWAYS GO FIRST NEVER THE DAMN SIDES YOU GET THE CORNERS SQUARED ALWAYS THEN KEEP MOVING THE FRAME TO GO UP UNTIL IT IS TOGETHER IF YOU DID THE CORNER RIGHT FIRST THEN IT WILL SQUARE AND SHOULD BE LEVEL IF YOU DID THE CEMENT CORRECTLY WITH PROPER STONE UNDER THEN LEVEL WHEN POURED AND KEEP THE POSTS SQAURE NEVER NEVER CUT OR LEVL AS YOU GO GET CORNERS RIGHT FIRST THEN GET IT UP AND WALLS WILL BE MOVED TO LINE UP WITH CORNERS NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND NEVER ALTER WALLS GET CORNERS RIGHT THE WALLS LINE WITH CORNERS ! WAIT TILL YOU HAVE IT UP AND GET IT TOGETHER NVER START CUTTING! PLEASE DO NOT DO IT HOW HE DID ! SQAURE THE CORNERS PUT IT UP THE WALLS WILL ALIGN WITH CORNERS !

how the hell did you even get a building permit without plans in to city eh? do not blame supplier over no plans ! you can not even start without you getting plans into building and getting permits so what the f! seriously people like you should not be allowed to try to build anything! that is safety risk you cut parts without even a frame together the cement is what you level and you yelled at cement guys over a 45 min delay in trucks are you freaking serious ????????????

YOU CAN NOTE THE STEEL THE OLD PAINT THAT HAD ABILITY TO STOP RUST THEY STOPPED THE LEAD IN PAINT SO WHILE OLD BUILDINGS DO HOLD UP FOR 50 YEARS MAYBE 40 WITH THE OLD PAINT --- WITH LEAD IN IT --- STOPS OR SLOWS CORROSION OR RUST THROUGH DESINTAGRATES AND THEN CRUMBLES LIKE THE STRUCTURE THAT WILL FALL AROUND IT THEN WHEN THEY TELL YOU NEW STEEL ----- DOES NOT HAVE THE PAINT WITH LEAD --- IN IT SO WHEN THEY SAY IT WILL NOT LAST MORE THAN 15 to 20 THEY MEAN IT MOISTURES DAMAGES AND DISINTEGRATES ITS IN TWENTY OR SO AND IT IS INSIDE WALLS WHERE YOU CAN NOT REPAINT IT TO COAT IT AGAIN SO WHY NOT LISTEN TO THEM WHEN THEY GET CALLS TO BUILD NEW STRUCTURES OR THEY SEE WHAT DOES AND DOES NOT HOLD UP IN WINDSTORMS SOME WILL HOLD UPTO 60 MILE PER HOUR AFTER THAT THEY BEND BREAK THE RECENT STORMS ARE 90 to 100 K ON A GOOD DAY BEFORE TORNADOS HIT SO UNLESS YOU ARE IN THAT RARIFIED AREA WHERE NO STORM EVER HITS THEN THINK ABOUT SAFETY RE WINDS DAMAGING AND THE WHOLE ROOF LIFTING OFF FLYING AWAY IN WIND STORMS EH

They have CAPS ON THE WALLS AT 10 feet 8 and at 30 WIDE FOR STRUCTURAL REASONS so if you expand to the wider then you are doing the industrial spans and they have to get that type steel structural frames to pass building codes eh otherwise the load walls wont pass so the structure walls they can do for spans the PURLINS across eh cant exceed the 30 in the building codes if you read them same with the damn 10 . 8 feet up so if you want a 40 across with a twenty span the guys cant lift that they will have to rent out the damn heavy equipment where as if you are making house and doing regular frame they can have crew guys lift without the major ones they wont they will rent heavy equipment. Also likely they know you are NOT building according to code a house with regular architecture plans so the special inspections and permits and building inspector hassles and slow downs in wages while they wait and also they know you are doing industrial if you need more than 30 across for a room as no non comercial needs more than 30 PER ROOM so reduce it by keeping EACH ROOM UNDER THIRTY so you lower cost purlins are across and have several feet each side to anchor and go over walls so REDUCE EACH ROOM ACROSS to under thirty otherwsie you are making a major garage or studio or BUSINESS NOT RESIDENTIAL and if so they know the LOANS are different not mortgage but at a percentage of it to loan off lands and if you are doing that for commercial to start instead rent then they know you are a mark as a BUSINESS not residential owner but if you say i want a house and it could be more than thirty if you are handy man READ THE CODES NONE OVER THIRTY NONE OVER 10 8 unless you are going up to massive steel framing etc in which case if you are tech billionaire they can make you whatever design you want you will pay if you are regular shmoe then build UNDER THIRTY PER ROOM if you say but i thought it would be cheaper with less walls and then NO LOAD BEARING WALLS EH so NOT SMART UNLESS YOU SIZE UP AND THEN MORE MONEY so just design your house with TWO ROOMS ACROSS and have a nice entrance way across to connect a livingroom kitchen but stay UNDER THE THIRTY FOR CODES and WALLS UNDER 10 feet 8 or BUILDING INSPECTOR WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE LOLOLOLOL

DIY is here to stay based on the hacks that try to install anything. HVAC "pros" are some of the worst hacks. Our furnace was scabbed in twice, the ducts had huge holes, no care for attaching the return to the side of the furnace in any sense of tightness. Don't be scared. Don't be telling folks the defrost will make it cold and drafty inside. That is false, the fan should not be running inside. Please go watch diy hvac, dave tells it how it is. Find a good local company to do the commissioning. Or just do it your self and eat the lack of warranty. That is how its going lately. They may provide parts but you then again need a pro to come install it. And then pay their labor. Tell me if there are good folks to do a diy starup and get the warranty called in.

I visited the Science Museum in Minneapolis with some students recently. They have a large one, the kids were fascinated! It used a fogger on the bottom (maybe top, too). Four pipes with air holes angled inward (same effect as your slots) ran the full height. What was cool is visitors can reach into the vortex and disrupt it, they are relatively fragile things! I came here looking for ideas to try in the classroom, thanks for the ideas!

As a witness to a company I worked for, the reason why there's so many positive reviews is that their own employees go on and post bogus reviews to make it look like their 5 stars. But this is just mere speculation on my party what these Home Warranty cvompanies MIGHT be doing. I never give a 5 star review as there's ALWAYS something that can be improved on.

I have a 10 metre x 15 metre shed build starting today. 32.8 feet x 40.2 feet. I am in Australia and you can't legally build a shed without local council approval and a building certifier. That way they make sure it is designed and engineered correctly, meets all weather and building codes. In order to get this the building supplier has to provide all drawings, engineering plans and construction details. They provide these via a client portal on the internet. The shed components (kit) was a custom design by myself and cost me AUS$26,423.(USD$17,562) delivered to site. Windows were extra and I sourced those myself. My builders are arriving on site today (Sunday) and as I am remote they are camping on site for a week. Here's a link to the build if interested kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eJt9f6Zl1qvKlIk.html

I have had positive results with choice home warranty with my mother's garbage disposal unit and washer and dryer. No luck with her air conditioner though. My ex wife tried to get her refrigerator's ice maker replaced by them and they wouldn't approve it, so I suppose it's who you speak with and the mood they're in that day lol As for car warranty, I purchased QualityProtect for 3800 when i purchased my used vehicle and they covered a new air conditioner, new alternator and 14k for a new engine. They did require 1 oilchange maintenance record for approval.

Weve done four of these, well 3 me and friends. The 4th friend had it built. His cost double what ours did. We did cheap pole barns piece by piece. Left the inside gravel and piece mealed pouring it ourselves with a mixer we bought. Pick a size, put the poles in the ground, roof. Enclose. Cheapest way to go. Steel rockets the price up.

I already added 2 more and this is directly/indirectly implied in 1 of them but this could be a stand-alone reason. Since the warranty company's contractor is going to jack-up their estimate to cover the "reimbursement" from the warranty, you're going to pay much more "net" for the same repair/replacement to a shyster contractor who IS IN the warranty company's pocket than you would have just paying a reputable contractor who IS NOT. It's like getting a big discount on a new car but getting peanuts for your trade-in to more than cover the discount. HOME WARRANTY SHELL GAME...WANNA PLAY?
