Thank you 🙏 I’m fostering TWO dogs for a couple of weeks starting in one weeks time. The were booked in to be euthanised tomorrow 😢 because pounds in Australia are overflowing. They were dumped at a pound that was full. They are 12 months old and no background info. Your videos that I’ve watched so far have been very helpful- bringing home your foster dog, crate training, introduction to my dog who we rescued 10 years ago (fingers crossed she is tolerant🤞 - the introductions video looks helpful for that) , and day 1 - i have watched so far. Thanks again ❤

Anyone know the size of that crate? in the video? I have mid large dog. It looks big enough, I get confused. Getting a new foster dog..
@TaylorDomer4 ай бұрын
This is a 42inch crate! I think it’s a good size to have around for foster dogs because it will fit most large dogs and then of course any smaller fosters you may get too 🙂 good luck with your foster!

Oh my gosh!!! I just found your blog, tomorrow I will be saying good bye to my foster baby girl it is hard to breathe. I’ve been crying for two days, she’s the first foster that is getting adopted, the first two were foster fails and I’m regretting not keeping her too. The adopters are incredible wonderful people, and I know she will be loved. I just can’t handle not seen her sweet face again, thinking that somehow she’s hurting it makes it 100 times worse. My heart is breaking.

Hey Taylor I am looking at fostering a 2-year-old female mix medium build just had a litter. My current dog is almost 11 and is a Boxer pit mix 60lbs gentle calm pup. The rescue is saying I should have the foster strictly contained inside her crate for a couple weeks and sleep inside the crate and be inside the crate for 4 hours. She will have her own room and no access with the resident pup. It was recommended I keep her on a leash while inside the house also but mostly keep inside the crate for the first couple weeks. Does this all sound good to you? I get it slow and easy let the new dog know its place and not get to overwhelmed. I will be nervous for sure when I am at work and she's alone for 4 hours in a crate 5 days a week. My hope is she will become comfortable enough to be out of the crate and with my resident pup at all times.

some foster dogs I get will just NOT go outside the first few days I have them. Would you carry them outside to go potty?

This is incredible content. I’m rescuing a mom and her puppy and their age difference makes me nervous as to how to handle each of their specific needs. Thank you ❤

Picking up our 1st foster dog today from the county shelter. He was E listed & it was to be done yesterday, but instead he got neutered & saved in the last hour. Thank you for this information. It was so helpful! I also just watched introducing dogs, as we do have our own dog.

A Kong stuffed with wet food and frozen is an excellent distraction for them in the crate. (several Kongs in rotation) Double leashing new dos is critical so that they cannot escape. Using a slip lead and Martingale collar is what we recommend. A GPS locator for the collar should be supplied with every foster dog.

Thank you for posting these videos. You mentioned not to repeat commands in an earlier video. Isn't calling the dog's name multiple times essentially repeating a command? Just need a bit more clarity.

What do you do if your dog free feeds whenever he wants. How would I feed my foster if my dog eats whenever he feels like it
@haleyfoard96852 жыл бұрын
With a foster dog don’t free feed your personal dog. Food possessiveness can cause serious issues between dogs.

We have our second ever foster dog and I'm so used to fostering kittens and know way more about cats than dogs. Thank you so much for this! Our first foster dog was wonderful and we considered adopting her. Our second foster dog has been a little harder to figure out. I really appreciate information like this!

Good summary, but it would be helpful to hear what you do when a new foster dog does experience separation anxiety - especially the first few nights in the crate (howling, whining, and barking).

I really like your videos. I’ve watched a few, and they all show details of how everything worked rather than just tips. One question i have is what if the dog gets up and anxious before you get to the door during training. Do you just come back to calm it down? Or come back until he gets quiet.
