Why is the Calf of Man referred to as in the UK? The Isle of Man and Calf are outside of the UK.

We are a bird observatory and all hold handling licenses. The data we collect contributes to a world wide collection that helps monitor populations, demographics, movements and shifts in migrations etc. to show patterns and trends. This is valuable information given the current environmental crises. We try and reduce stress and disturbance as much as possible and as I said in the video, it is all over very quickly.

Great video. Such a shame you are reliant on diesel, noisy and polluting. Surely would be better to use solar, wind or wave power in some way?

Great point and yes, that is definitely the goal! We are hoping to transition to renewables in the future. Discussions are under way to install a solar PV grid, which in the long term, will reduce our running costs and reduce our environmental footprint! 🤞🏻

Hi. I live in Castletown and only moved to the IoM about 6 months ago. My wife and I are desperate to get a visit in to the Calf of Man, it always looks incredible from The Sound. We’ll have to bring some treats over for the team!
