Solid. Got to play with a TSR a few weeks ago. Solid tool for sure. Control that maul acting as your gap capture. Granny survives the fire but doesn't survive the axe to the forehead.

@@jimbaity9672 granny will be ok! When training we tell folks to kick that tool out prior to final push. But usually there is resistance on the door if someone is dropped right behind it.

My compression wrap stuck and wouldn't come off completely. Had to tear a lot of it off. Gonna probably have to sand it all off when it's done curing.

@@cessatiolux6250 Following the suggested timing is necessary to avoid your issue. After 10 minutes of applying hot water to your wrap, the outside of it will be cured. In the video we also show checking your compression wrap to be sure it is not sticking.

What’s the difference between SFT and HRD?

Hi Jake. You will find both product descriptions on our website. One is specifically a softer performance grip system and the other is a hard industrial fiber tape system that can be used for more than just a grip.

I find the halligan intriguing, but the demonstration of the “shocking” the door stuff just makes me laugh every single time. What an absolute waste of energy and time. After 38 years on a very busy urban rescue, I’ve never seen the value of shocking the door. It does nothing and in one instance I watched it cause a career ending rotator cuff blowout as the stored energy has nowhere else to go but back into the user. Faced with 10 doors down a multioccupancy that all must be forced, you’ll have no energy to finish when you are done. Just do good. Smooth, gap set force and move along. Interesting take on the halligan though.

We actually gotten away from it ourselves, unless we are just ramming a residential door to see if it will open. But for the most part we just start a gap low and work that gap up the door to the lock. Quick and easy.

Just got my mauler w/28” handle…marry’s very well with the council bar, super tight! A little looser with my FHU In-forcer tool (w/pro-bar fork). Getting them apart in this fashion is not working with the council, but does with pro-bar…the only way to un-marry quickly with council is by holding mauler parallel to ground and bumping hard surface with the blade and back of halligan adz.

The success of getting a halligan completed in 2021 hinged on a $70 harbor freight bench sander? Why not purchase 12 of them?
@FireMaulTools

Hi. This is an action taken by us as soon as we started receiving halligans that needed corrected finishing. We immediately ordered our Industrial Grinder at a very expensive cost on top of a very expensive project to bring to completion. The success of this mission is certainly not hinged on our original equipment from when we first started our company. Thanks for commenting though.

Im curious why y’all went this route. Your prototype had a 2 in didn’t it? Was this based on feedback from testing? Or just something that you guys rethought? I know the TSR is a little shorter so leaving a 2 in on a 26 inch tool would have actually decreased your leverage. Not knocking the idea. I’ve already ordered mine and can’t wait to get hold of it. Just curious what led to the change in design.
@FireMaulTools
@FireMaulTools Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, Yes, after testing we wanted to increase the mechanical advantage to get a full turn of the adz. Reducing the adz width does increase the mechanical advantage, it brought it up to a 17:1 to vs the 13:1 we had with the initial prototypes. With the higher MA we more often got a full turn of the adz which equated to more throw on tougher doors. While the 2" adz paired with only 26" length would not easily get that full turn/throw.

The multilayer, coated handle wrap seems is quite unappealing and unnecessary to me. A durable knurled cut grip on the tool surface is much preferred. Probably a cross diagonal diamond pattern would work well. Previously I had a barbell with a deep diamond pattern. The open angle grove line cuts were made so that diamonds were slightly pointed and very grippy. The manner of the cuts allowed for dirt to fall away and for ease of cleaning as needed. It could be more challenging to make a knurled pattern on a hexagonal shaped handle but, where there is a will there is a way.
@FireMaulTools
@FireMaulTools Жыл бұрын
Actually, the multilayered wrap is exactly necessary for the demands these tools are put through. The cross diagonal pattern is not ideal for big bulky fire gloves that will slide down the angled ridges. The Lacing Ring system falls directly parallel to fingers and base of the palm to maximize friction and ridges against the hand. Knurling on the other hand actually does not provide much grip again with gloved hands. But this may not be known for those who are not firefighters. Thanks for commenting!

Will this work on a fiberglass handle?
@FireMaulTools
@FireMaulTools 2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. The Fiber Tape does have a resin in it that solidifies the wrap and stick to rough surfaces, but also the compression action helps secure it to any handle.

You can leave the Fiber Tape without Liquid Grip if you wish, but we highly recommend the top coat to fill in pores and provide higher friction and rubberized grip surface.
