Have you tried using anything Velcro to that particular carpet? If so do they hold strong? You did such a great job on yours. I have my topper off truck in shop and about to start this project. I’m glad I didn’t start using the almost black in color speaker carpet I have. I had been looking for this color gray to match rest of truck. Looks like my Menards has this carpet and about to figure out how much to get from there and the cuts if they can do that too But yeah. Was wondering before I buy about the Velcro bonding with it.? Thank you sir

@nowakoutside4 ай бұрын
My Dremel is the absolute base model. Nothing fancy. I think it was like $70? BUT, check for a store brand or other cheaper option. I think Menards sells a "rotary tool" which works the same way for $20-30.

Why didn't you just pull the topper off and turn it upside down. Seems like it would have been a bit easier. Overall good job.

It was an auto/marine carpet from Menards. It was like 79 cents/sqft I believe and worked really well!

Remember, when you are putting in the replacement gear, that the plastic gear slides down on the spindle but should NOT be pushed all the way in. You want to leave a bit of space.

GREAT VIDEO! You did a great job. Most toppers (like mine) only have just the carpet. I also installed a BedRug brand bed liner. It is a very special rug that contours to the groves on the truck floor and keeps it perfectly smooth and flat. I have not done the Reflectx mod yet.

Question: would a spray foam have filled in those small gaps, in lieu of or in addition to the tape? Especially if you cover it with carpeting after. Planning mine…
@nowakoutside11 ай бұрын
Hmmm. I suppose it could. Honestly it would probably give better insulation than mine too, since the gaps would be filled instead of just covered with a thin layer of tape. I'd be curious to see/hear how it comes out if you do it with foam!
