It is absolute nonsense to record 28 million losses for the Red Army, without taking into account civilians. Yes, the Soviet Union made mistakes during the war, but this offensive myth about “meat assaults” or “one rifle for two” should not be supported. Yes, the author implies that casualities and fatalities are the same thing.

The truth is without American and British support, and without a huge number of cannon fodder to throw at the problem the Russians were ineffective and a garbage army. Yes they won in the end, yes they had battle hardened troops after a bit, but they enjoyed the numbers and land mass that could absorb huge losses. The lend lease act supplied 30% of all the war making capabilities for the Soviet Union. Also without their factories being designed and assisted in construction by American engineers in the 30s they would've never been able to move them.
