Is M 1 Finance causing you to lose $1,000's of dollars and the answer is? YES I saw nvda stock dropped $80 before the stock split around $695, so I knew it was a good time to buy, so I BOUGHT 2 SHARES I was happy and waited for the market to open, nvda stock took off 9:30am In the morning I WAS FEELING GOOD, NVDA SHOT UP TO $780, then when I looked at my account, it said I had 1.8 something shares and M 1 Finance had priced me in at $727 I was hot!!!!!! Now the market started cooling off and since m 1 finance doesn't have a trailing stop loss NVDA Closed at $760 so I gained $66 instead of close to $200, so not only do you lose on the entry of a stock, but you lose on the back end when the stock is cooling off and you can't stop it when it's falling. And the last thing is,, you can't pick your price. If a stock is $500 and you think the market is going to drop some. You can't set a limit order to $485 and get in at a great price, once I found that out I got another account at Robinhood, I set my limit orders, trailing stop loss orders and I can buy shares anytime I want through out the day. I was introduced to the stock market through m1 finance and they had a beneficiary and Robinhood didn't, Robinhood and other platforms under stood this and now they do, they adapted and changed for the better, M1 is good but without these features, yes they are costing you thousands of dollars, how do I know, cause they cost me thousands of dollars already, I hate every entry price I get, it's a retirement account, so I'm only adding 10 or 25 dollars every other week, but in my robinhood account I drop $500 in that account cause I can control how my money works. If M1 Finance added these features they would be 90% better If not there going to miss out on a lot of customers. I hope this helps and I hope M1Finance change and add these features, I'm not a day trader or options trader, but know being in the stock market over 3 years you know where your money should be and how it works for you, Thanks S. Carter 🔥👍🙏

One I'd add is only invest money you can afford to lose. Before you invest a single cent, make sure you feed your emergency fund. Make sure your bills are paid. Make sure your needs. Make sure your needs are met. I treat investing as a luxury, not a necessity.

Can someone help me ? How is the return calculated ? If i buy a 4 week bill for 1000 at 5.33 rate then what is the actual return ?
@CraigJS91

the return after one month would be about $4.17 as 5% is the annual rate, not the monthly rate.

I have a question or more like advice. I only started with a few hundred bucks in M1 finance. With this 3$ a month, should I just withdraw all my money and close my account? I’m just losing money now that’s why. I started to just test and learn more but now it’s just a loss every month.

So, It never Compounds... That's good to know. There is such a lag in this system between placing the order, the auction date , and the issuance date. And then nothing compounds even after reinvestment. Seems like a good Dividend Market ETF would be easier. Always earning on the previous earnings. It's a Strange System. Not as Intuitive as it should be.

I had a ladder of 17 week T-Bills but ended up changing to a ladder of 4 week T-Bills. Using the reinvestment option simplifies management as there is lag time when they are cashed out and then manually reinvested. With my ladder a T-Bill matures every week but is automatically reinvested. If I needed the cash all I have to do change the reinvestment counter to zero. Right now the difference in interest rates for the various term T-Bills is less than 0.1% so switching to T-Bills that pay a bit more isn't worth the trouble. Currently the 13 week have the highest rate. I keep cash in a HSA savings account but the 4 weeks ready access made it comfortable to significantly increase the face amounts.

I have a question. I have 4-week T-bill, it's maturity date is July 9, 2024. I would like to get another 4-week T-bill with the money I used for the first T-bill. There is an isshue date on July 9, the same day the cueernt one I have matures. Do I need to off set buying my next T-bill by a week (July 16) or can I buy the July 9 one? My fear is they will try to take the money from my bank account before they put the mature T-bill money back in first.
