Honestly, it's interesting how they made several waves of escalation of commander's panic and nervousness. First Darth Vader, Empire's second in command arrives without announcement (and we all know how "happy" workers of any important project are about their boss visiting them; it's already is a red flag with caps "PROBLEMS" on it). Second he simply shuts up attempts of commander to get into formalities and says to go to business (Which means that you have MORE problems and add another red flag). Third. You work hard, you get in schedule and your boss says that HIS boss is displeased with how SLOW you work, stating that to the guy who arranged all this you are a turtle worker. And that is a third point, because it's not even delivered to you formally or in any documents. Your highest in command goes down to your level and says that you displeasing HIS boss with your progress. Fourth, when you try to explain yourself you are simply told to tell it straight into the face that is somwhere above your Boss, daring you to say to HIM that YOU think he is unreasonable. And finally your highest in command, known for not forgiving any incompetence casually drops: "The one who is higher than me is not as merciful to [your] failures".

Lowkey if you watch Hamill’s blocking and mannerisms as Luke in this scene and think about Natalie Portman’s as Padme in Revenge of the Sith you can find some pretty stark similarities. Pardon the wall of text, but... -By 0:18 you've learned that the Rebellion is not so powerful every officer takes them seriously but not so weak they don't have some who fear them -By 0:34 You've learned that the Emperor is very much a dictator, able to unilaterally dissolve the Senate at a speed that startles the officers (i.e. no one reacts like "Finally, it took him long enough to do away with that formaility." Less importantly, you also learn the rebellion was gaining support in the Senate, meaning not everyone in the political elite is an Imperial loyalist or evil -By 0:50 You've learned that this new character, Tarkin, is the effective ruler of this part of space and learned about who he is as a governor and character, using fear and violence to secure his rule. -By 1:16 You've seen Imperial arrogance in action. Nothing new but always good to reinforce -By 1:25 You're *told* how powerful the Force is, i.e. "if Force users are psychics, think less 'spoon bending' and more 'Professor X.'" -By 1:38 you see how the universe at large (or at least parts of it) look at the Jedi/Sith/Force. (For, what, the third or fourth time, this shows there isn't 100% consensus on something in the universe). -By 1:55 You've been *shown* a glimpse of the power of the Force, gotten a look at Vader's cruelty and pettiness and Tarkin's acuteness and authority since he not only understood what's going on, but calmly and successfully orders Vader to stop All that.
