Maybe those gold colored rings around the tube have some advanced technology in them that can exert precise control over passengers, keeping them from hitting the walls or directing them properly through forks in the tube. Maybe there's no air pressure involved at all but some kind of magnetism or something

I believe the rings inside the tube are designed to generate a cyclonic airflow, creating a high-pressure zone that prevents people from coming into contact with the walls. These rings likely contain controllable nozzles. It would be interesting for someone with expertise in CFD to verify if this concept is feasible."
@onstructures
@onstructures 14 күн бұрын
That's a cool concept, though one issue with the air flow in tubes is that it's always faster in the middle than at the perimeter because of the friction contact with the wall. Though if the airflow were continuously supplied, like at corners, you could probably create a barrier like you say!

Could the rings have any theoretical impact? like countless mini tubes with the likes of something like a force field or similar technology providing various micro calibrations at a mass scale? I mean alot of similar tech such as the mentioned floatation devices utilize rings like what is found all along the tube as seeming some kind of support but what if they are FAR more important than that?
@FreebirthBoccara
@FreebirthBoccara 15 күн бұрын
nah.. the golden rings at regular intervals are matter accelerators. there's no suction. also explains how they just hover there.. they are repulsors. the glass is just there so people don't get hit by birds and stuff. you stand in the tube, announce your destination and your pulled towards the first ring..then he next and so on. until you reach your destination.

given that futurama has working antigrav tech to the point that wheeled cars were unheard of, its likely the travel tubes uses antigrav tech to replicate those pressure differentials you were talking about, those golden rings could be the gravitic manipulators pulling the passenger to the destination while automatically turning them for turns my manipulating the gravity within the tube
@johnathanbrandt2526
@johnathanbrandt2526 16 күн бұрын
The antigrav concept also explains the general lack of support structure as well. By definition, the technology would alter the mass relationship with itself and the rest of the planet depending on if said tech had other properties like the quantum locking behavior of superconductors, or just calibration to a neutral boyency in the air making it an active suport construction ( a structure that uses a constant imput of energy to maintain its structure). This could also explain some of the cartoon-logic speeds people move through the tube with and the absence of fans on the tube. Any mass ( including the ambient air) is effectively in a slipstream of warped space time, probably adjusted to different relative acceleration in different locations. That is to say, your almost ludicrous acceleration and velocity is instantly nullified when you exit the tube because you are not actually moving in the tube.The space time you occupied is moving in the tube.

So essentially, a maglev railgun but using repulsorlifts instead of magnetism (or maybe some quantum shenanigans that works similar to magnetism but affects all baryonic matter). Seems legit.

@sboinkthelegday3892 15 күн бұрын
You can speak in the tubes which means regular flow of air to your location. Interestingly severed heads may speak as well, even under... liquid. I like the Bioshock infinite "quantum locking" solution where the structure just, "is" as if it was touching the ground... there's just some amount of nothing between you and the ground, that isn't even displaced when something is added there. Allowing objects to move under the quantum locked city.

I wasn't up to date with Elon Musk's particular conception of it, but wasn't the whole idea of a hyperloop just to make Maglev but inside vacuum (or close to vacuum) tubes? In theory, a Maglev in a vacuum tube is the perfect mode of transportation, frictionless and without air resistance, it can accelerate and cruise at ridiculous speeds safely and smoothly.
@AJSSPACEPLACE
@AJSSPACEPLACE 16 күн бұрын
But wouldn’t a vacuum tube be highly dangerous if something suddenly caused it to rapidly loose vacuum? I mean, Deliberate acts of sabotage are a risk that every public transportation method has to contend with. and in this case, the consequences could be disastrous for the entire vacuum tube system.
@onstructures
@onstructures 16 күн бұрын
I think you’re more or less correct. The hyper loop is a bit of a different technology altogether, but thought it was a decent reference point. The frictionless maglev certainly has some nice aspects to it, but it feels like a theory rather than a practice sort of thing.

I always thought that these work like pyramids upside down that were carved out like the german castles. Think about it, pyramids have an ingenious design that allows them to be infinitely scalable since the load on the material doesn't change with size as with each new layer there's more supporting material. And since it is hinted that earth benders were involved, and it's shown that the power of bending allows to construct megastructures* is entirely plausible in this universe. In our universe, the biggest challenge would be finding a suitable piece of terrain that can be used. Besides, it's already shown that at least parts of the structure have been carved out of the rock formation, and since earthbending is the most efficient tool for that, it might be that the same earthbenders who have carved the statues carved the "cores" of temples. If you want to make the nerd-meter explode, you can calculate the power of combustion man's explosions to calculate the actual strength of the structures. * e.g. (previous avatar creating an island, and the great wall)

6:19 [WRONG ANSWER BUZZER] human walking is controlled falling. Animal walking isn't. That's why we are so much more efficient at walking than other animals. That's a part of what makes us persistence predators. Our efficiency lets us just do. not. stop.

I don't think they use air pressure differentials. The people who go through the tube are clearly pushed through the air inside; their hair gets all wavy like in a brisk breeze If I had to guess, I'd say they use spacetime compression differentials, aka artificial gravity. That would also make the gaps all over the system possible Also, on a different note, Musk has just straight up admitted the Hyperloop was some nonsense he made up to halt the high-speed rail project. It's not a conspiracy theory, he just straight up did that

@@LadyLunarSatineif that's the case it's still one hell of a collection of technical achievements in the the material sciences. Room temperature superconductors on mass production scale equivalent to concrete and asphalt. To say nothing of the conductive property as the only magnets strong enough to levitate ( mind you only levitate not move) non-ferrous organic material was only an able to do so in a envelope of a few inches. Then the achievement of breaking Lenz's law because by all rights any movement induced by that kind of magnetic induction should cook anything traveling though it if not permanently magnetize the trace metals in an organism traveling with in a tube like that. No matter what method it's a masterpiece of Clark tech.
