Do you have the 150mm or 200mm GP3? Did you order directly from their website? Have you had any issues with your QSS after the flash and exhaust install? I am looking to get this same system and also considering the ECU flash from Moore. Thanks
@lt4camino
@lt4camino 3 ай бұрын
I order direct off the Austin Racing website, I just looked at my invoice and it doesn’t say if it is 150mm or 200mm, so I am honestly not sure on that question. I’ve had zero issues with the quick shift system after the flash, if I remember correctly Moore Mafia says on their website they actually fix a minor issue with the QSS when they reflash the ECU.

@lt4camino

Hello, Nice! Yes, the BIM module for the Dakota Digital gauges plugs into the OBD-II port and it reads the data… speedometer, rpm, water temp, oil pressure, mileage, check engine light etc. I followed the directions from Dakota Digital and had no issues at all, I also went with Speartec for the engine harness.

Looks like its been a year since you posted this video, so i hope GM sent you a new motor and you got it running again. This is the first video of yours that I have seen and the title is what got me interested.... as I have my Grandfather's 1979 El Camino and am debating on what motor I should drop into it. It originally came with the small block 267ci V8 and a 4 speed manual. It has almost 400,000 miles on it and the intake manifold has never been removed! The only thing on the motor that has been serviced was a carb rebuild and the occasional alternator, water pump, power steering pump and starter. But the motor itself was just as it had left the factory. My Grandpa swore by Valvoline oil and Chevron gas. He was a Master Sargent in the Air Force and worked on many, many of the jets from Korea until after Vietnam and apparently worked on some of the shit that he absolutely would not tell anyone about. Not even on his death bed, which unfortunately he was put there from some of the shit he came into contact with. But he knew his shit about how things worked and gave me the El Camino for my first car.... as long as i only used valvoline oil and Chevron gas. Haha. Im certain that it would have surpases 400,000 miles, after which i was gonna try and get it into a magazine or something because a lot of people think that Chevys cant make it to 400,000 miles. It was all original, even the paint! Unfortunately, after i had it for some years and had started driving a couple of cars that were faster and hence more fun, i wasnt really driving it and my cousin really needed something to drive for a lil while..... Yea, dont let anyone else drive your shit. EVER!! Because apparently when he had filled up the radiator, he only used water. And even though we live in Tucson, AZ and it doesnt really get that cold here.... that year we had a rare cold snap for a week or so where it got all the way down to about 17° and let me tell you.... I did NOT know that a motor could come apart like that! Its like its etched into my memory. The sides of the block... basically were not the sides of the block anymore! The best i cam describe it is like the sides of the block were like the pedals of a rose, how they seem to pivot at the bottom and come out and down from the top. You could see the sides of the cylinders that you would never normally be able to see. It was crazy... and a shame. So close to 400,000 and still ran great. So ive been thinking about what motor to put into it when i get to that point and what else i wana do to it. I think itd be cool to kinda copy the Buick GNX rear suspension, since its a truck bed in the back and would have a traction problem and theyre both G-bodies. But well see. Anyways, hope its all worked out for you and the El Camino looks great

That’s too bad to hear about what happened to your grandfather’s el camino. Sounds like your grandfather knew what he was doing because that is the most miles I’ve ever heard of on an el camino with a stock motor! Best of luck to you on your future swap.

Thanks for the breakdown. I had about 50k saved up to do the LT4/10L90E swap for my 70 C10, so I'm pretty sure I'm good. I already got the motor/tranny, ecm, tcm, wiring harness, fuse box, air intake. It came with several upgrades too. 103mm throttle body, griptech 2.3 pulley and a few others. I still need the pwm module, fuel pump, intercooler, etc. I got a package deal on the engine, tranny, ecm, Tcm, wiring harness, and drive accessories minus power steering pump. It has 32k miles but I got a killer deal on the whole package

How’s do you like LT4 so far? And when suspension and rear end?
@lt4camino
@lt4camino 10 ай бұрын
It’s been great so far. The only issue is the car has rev hang/hanging idle in between shifts and it gets annoying. I’ve worked with a few different email tuners but so far no luck resolving the issue. I’m taking it to a local tuner this week though. I hope to do the suspension here next year and maybe the rear end if I can save enough money!
