How can I keep a vehicle out of probate? North Carolina does not seem to have a place on the title to leave a beneficiary?

Thank you so much for the comment. No, you cannot name a beneficiary on a car title. There is an option on a title to own a vehicle with another person with rights of survivorship though. However, that wouldn't be something I would do without speaking to an Estate Attorney and having it be part of your Estate Plan. You can name who is to inherit the vehicle in your Will or your Revocable Trust.

Having a trust doesn’t seem to mean anything. I was the beneficiary of my mom’s trust and she left me the house AND my name was on the deed but I still lost it since my name wasn’t on the actual mortgage. It was all so traumatic for me.

The issue here, it seems, wasn't with the Trust but with the mortgage company. Real Property is tricky regardless of whether there is a Trust or a Will.

I have often wondered about the same thing. I worked Hospice for years and started journals for each of my patients. So I could help document what they wanted others to know about how grateful they were for having them in their lives. That way, together, we checked off the family and friends they were able to tell. Say it now! .
