I will be moving up to zone 6 in Illinois from zone 9 in Florida in a couple of weeks and was worried about how my coleus will do! Thank you so much for this informative video!

I cut mine put them dirt and watered... in 3 days they stopped wilting, they are nice and sturdy in the pot, I believe they have roots now.😊❤

Bought some Coleus for the first time to plant in my garden. Living in Edinburgh Scotland we have cold winters which l understand Coleus do not like the cold, any suggestions with out having to dig them up. Thank you for making your video, lve started to love these plants because of the leaves.

Loved the vlog. I think the "fishnet stockings" was mislabeled. Last year I grew the one you now have & I know it wasn't called "fishnet stockings". I hope someone can comment on the correct name, as I misplaced the tag. Funny thing....I actually ❤ that variety & overwintered several cuttings. Now I need to know the name😊

Wow, just came across your video! I love your display and all your different types of coleus. I never thought to save the cutting. My coleus grows back every year from the seeds of the previous season. It seeds everywhere! I love it! But I don’t have proven winners coleus. I just bought some online and will definitely try to save them since they are extra special. Thanks for all the information!!

Ivey is pretty, but it is terrible for trees, and is hard to control. I love creeping fig, but every plant has its cons. I wonder how a climbing hydrangea would look?

I didn’t know that Coleus could be overwintered. You have helped me immensely. I’m going to buy seeds for next spring. Hopefully I’ll have enough cuttings to pass on throughout my community.

You said it doesn’t look the best on the first day. Maybe! But the promise of what is to come outweighs having a full and finished pot. Realistically, I would have only a few pots if I were to buy them potted up. I enjoy potting my own and seeing them grow lush.

There was way too many leaves and stems on those cuttings for them to root properly from nothing. Keep them that bulky will make them want to continue to focus on foliage growth vs pruning them back, you’d encourage them to start working on roots

Looks nice! How much does it move from side to side (bed to bed)? I live in a very windy area and wondered if it would remain upright. Do the “R” clips you showed in the beginning anchor the structure to the wood raised beds?

We have had several thunderstorms and VERY windy days since we installed the arch, and it did great. We have not had to adjust anything. HOWEVER, I do want to point out that the arch is just the other side of a row of Arborvitae's and I don't want to discount how much of a wind break they are. If they were in a more open spot, I would have buried the arch a bit deeper (so not as tall) and more more than 2 tee posts on each side. The clips I showed in the beginning that I did not use, were to attach the arch to the tee posts. We would have used pliers to twist the hooks to tighten them around the posts.

Move the hosta out in more light. Even though they don't like direct sun they do like good light, they are in darkness with the big leaves.

I like the way you talk about them, like introdecing your children. And they seem to respond back. 🙂 I used to have a variety with bright yellowish orange foliage. but, I think if you move them from bright sun to less sunny area, the lose their color and turn green... ish with patches of darker colors,

I just love the admission of the neglect idea when trying to do it all at one time. I get that idea and I have decided to write down a schedule for the fall cleanup of the garden so it is easier, and manageable, to accomplish.

Hi Shelly. Fungus gnats indoors? In your soil for cuttings and all your house plant potting soils buy Mosquito Bits and mix one tablespoon for every five cups of soil. It will eliminate all indoor gnats in around 20 days. I was amazed. Amazon has mosquito bits. I’m a coleus crazy gardener. Lovely videos.
