You can do this with wood, but light will have a harder time penetrating wood than paper, so the resulting light effect will also be worse.

Thank you. I use 120gsm paper (just a little thicker than normal printing paper) so the box is not sturdy. Many of my customers use 250-300 gsm paper for better results. You can also apply more glue to the edges of the paper for a more aesthetic look. The box in this video will then be opened to install the leds so I haven't put the finishing glue on it yet.

It is best to use white paper with a thickness between 160gsm and 220gsm.

This is due to light contrast. All is white paper. The layers in the back are always brighter than the layers in the front. (Actually, when looking at the moon and stars, it will not be completely white but will have a light color, but it is not much different from the video. The color difference if any (but little) occurs due to the camera)
