Few months ago me and my best friend went to a movie expo in Nuremberg and I bought a ton of movies I will NEVER find on streaming services (at least in Germany). Here are just SOME of the titles I bought: Heaven and Earth (Japan import) I Spit on your Grave 2010 (Austria Import, unrated) Demon Wind (UK DVD) Delightful Forest (HK DVD, Shaw Brothers) A Tale of Two Sisters (German first Edition release) Jigoku (US Criterion Collection) Maniac (Austria DVD) Ichi the Killer (Dutch DVD with english subs) Besides (MAYBE) A Tale of Two Sisters NONE of these titles are available on streaming (at least in uncut format). That's why I stick with Physical.

What sucks about how the Home Video market being practically non-existent, thanks to Streaming, is how films that bomb at the Box-Office, that are actually decently made, aren't bound to get a second chance in getting much notice or attention by the average paying movie-goer, compared to when back in the days of Home Video's prominence, those Box-Office Bombs would later gain a cult-following of critical acclaim, thanks to the Home Video Market. With such examples including The Last Starfighter, Fight Club, Blade Runner, and especially The Iron Giant. So in a way, the fact is when you make a decently made film nowadays, and it's a Flop, there's no way to salvage it. Being how the Home Video market is somewhat gone. Thus making that film practically gone from existence in the public eye.

For me, these were times when entertainment was still very important to people and because of the booming video store business where you could rent your favorite film on VHS, it was a wonderful feeling to go home with it. Today, of course, it's unimaginable but that's how it was and when the DVD was later available to buy in the shops, it was just something special, not only because you could talk to other people on site, but also exchange tips with them in person. I miss that so much in this day and age. Support independent cinema and of course the physical medium Godspeed 🤘

Any rational thinker knows that Rodent House streaming is only “profitable” by the manipulation of numbers. The service is still *billions* of dollars in the hole and I find it highly improbable it will ever dig itself out. A company doesn’t make more money by bleeding customers. I didn’t really think I ever had that “video store experience.” I don’t recall any of the stores I visited being staffed with the right type of people that would encourage discussions and recommendations, but that’s okay! It wasn’t why I was there. I was there to find a movie to rent and now that experience is lost, too. The closest I came was going to the rental store as a teenager with a friend or two so we could find one or more movies to rent for the weekend; the hunt, the discussions and the selection process was always a good time! I still can’t believe how many movies I watched for the first time on my 9” CRT bedroom TV!

Oh definitely Disney us manipulating it big time. It's true not everyone had those experiences at the video store and yes that is ok. I miss the days of the home video market and video stores, streaming and digital don't cut it at all.

@@FanZceneVids So long as we all had some positive experience from the video store era, that’s what makes it special, especially now. You know me: Streaming and digital don’t even exist! At this point I’m about out of places to be able to ship to buy my physical media in person, to say nothing of renting. My local Walmart just took a catastrophic downturn in that area, I found out last night. I have no reason to even walk in the door anymore.

what a great video Greg the video store still exists today but few and far between I love cruising the aisles for movies a games and music which you can still do a lot in Australia. I believe it was Fido ( I would have to pull my dvd to be sure) that I first saw the trailer for Trick r' Treat. I was like oh dam that looks very me. It was supposed to go to theaters but idk fell through. It never did anyway. Then a few years? later it came right to DVD. Now look at it? It is a huge cult classic, all over stores like Spriti of Halloween and such. Would I ever have even gotten to see it these days? Also of all the meet n greets William K was by far the sweetest guy ever, and every one is super nice so.

So true and I don't think Trick r Treat would have the following it does if it was released on streaming. The home video market and video stores did so much that now has sadly been lost. William Katt seems like a really great guy from everything I've seen.

No doubt so many movies get lost in the streaming shuffle. I’m well aware of how many I knowingly miss with streaming exclusive, be it lacking a wide theatrical release or never seeing a physical release. They can try to control our habits and access but those who refuse to comply will continue to cost them money. It’s a lose/lose business model.

I think Best Buy doing away with selling physical media sucks! It was the next best thing to a video rental store where you could buy movie theater candy and even a 20 oz bottled soft drink.

Absolutely. That’s gone, too, and my local Walmarts are hot on its heals. Last night marked the last time I’ll ever try to find/buy a movie/TV series in a Walmart store. They’re checking out and there’s no more reason to enter that store again, just like Best Buy.

I used to love browsing the many aisles of DVDs my Best Buy carried back in the late 90's through the 2000's. Never knew what you would find. Picked up so many gems that I didn't know existed til I watched them. Streaming it somehow just isn't the same for me.

Between James Cameron and Bruce Timm, I'd say the biggest moron is Bruce Timm, because what Timm said about Batman's female villains was truly moronic. Cameron's comments about the fan criticism of his recent 4K revisualizations is just him being a dick.
