@colibrifpv i need your help further with this drone. i ordered all the parts you are using in this video, yet i need help with the FC & ESC … I have the same Argus ones, yet i might be missing something when i build it (at the connections level). could you please perhaps email me a couple photos of your final johnny fpv v2 build? Hey there, that would be no problem but unfortunately I'm on the road and don't have access to the drone right now but I would be happy to help, you can email me at the email listed for this youtube channel. Basic advice: take your time! Your first build has a steep learning curve, but it gets more fun later 😉 Practice soldering! Buy a cheap practice board and practice. Also watch Joshua Bardwell's soldering tutorial. As for your FC connections, plan first on a piece of paper, ie, TX1 on receiver (yellow wire) to RX1 on FC... I just made that up but you get the point. Good luck and once again, take your time!

Mine had 4.5! If I recall, Betaflight 4.4 had major GPS issues with M10 GPS units, so they waited for a long time before upgrading and leapfrogged 4.4, which is why they shipped a lot of quads with 4.3, it was the solid version for a long time. The good news is that iFlight does publish their official Betaflight configurations, check out their Facebook group or e-mail their support, they will get you sorted...

Just head out to an open field and take your time, have loads of patience and you'll have a blast with it. And if you haven't already, spend some time in the simulator. I just received the DC version with ELRS and GPS. It’s ready to go for a maiden flight but too much rain in my area. I wish I got the XT60 loose lead version, the captured version I got is a pain, and now I have to get a 2-inch extension to maintain battery balance. Price wise it was about the same as a custom-built quad but without the work of doing it yourself. Hopefully this is the start of new trend.
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 күн бұрын
That's awesome that you just got your shiny new DC Nazgul, I know how that is with the weather, here in Ecuador we'll get fog and rain for weeks. Right now is insanely sunny though, guess it's global warming 😂 Personally I prefer the XT60 to run out the back with about an inch of cable free and that's what I do when I build my own. Lately manufacturers have been doing the captured XT60 which looks super nice, but is not so practical. Like you, I have to use an extension on my JohnnyFPV QAVS2 build for most batteries, and I would prefer not to... weight aside it's two more points of failure. Maybe there are batteries with longer leads?
@Mxoderberg
@Mxoderberg 3 күн бұрын
I agree with the xt60 mounting. The hardmounted one on the updated version sucks! Looks good but battery options is limited. I had a F6d Evoque and with a Gopro there wasn't space for a big lipo for longer flights.. And add all the plastic sideplates and it was just a lot of unecessary stuff that don't really matter, I'd choose this kind of frame over the Evoques every time.
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 күн бұрын
I hear you, when I build I like to leave the XT60 running out the back with about an inch or half inch of cable, just enough to allow flexibility for battery mounting. It's really the angel of that mount that gets you, if it were totally vertical it might be better. That Evoque F6d is super nice, I built a 6inch and I love it for the flying I do, mostly mounting cruising with a GoPro for cinematic shots. 7" is technically better for that but the batteries, weight, and $$ get to be too much, 6" is juuuuust right!

Hi there! Well, if you get the ELRS version of the Pavo20, and the ELRS version of the Betafpv LiteRadio 3 pro, then yes, they will work together. As for the goggles, those would work only if you installed an analog VTX in your quad, and this quad really is made for a digital system like the DJI O3 or Walksnail, so I would recommend you purchase some digital goggles and a digital VTX. Im building a ultralight 5" long range drone with 2004 1800kv motors, do you think I could use a 4s Liion battery or should keep using 6s? Thanks a lot and congrats for the amazing content
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 3 күн бұрын
Thanks a lot for your feedback! You could use 4s lions for endurance flights but it will be very sluggish with 1800kv motors, especially at the end of the flight when the battery voltage is lower. I would recommend 6s, they will be a little heavy but they should give you some nice long flights times with a more reasonable mount of power. I think my Croc5 was flying for ~17minutes on these 6s 3000mah lion batteries with an 1800kv equivalent (4s motors with motors output limit)...

Lipos with ET2.0 connectors are hard to find. Can I use lipos with GNB27 connectors? Is it possible to use lipos with GNB27 without having to replace the ET2.0 connector on the drone?
@colibrifpv
@colibrifpv 10 күн бұрын
Hello! Yes, ET2.0 connectors are made to be compatible with GNB27 connectors. However, I did notice that between brands there is slight variation in tolerances and so they can be difficult to remove, but they will work. I am using different brands of GNB27 lipos with that Eachine charger, which has ET2.0 plugs, and they work fine, just a bit snug but usable.

If you are looking to build up your first 5" drone, I HIGHLY recommend the Bardwell beginner kit. Sorry to hear that, I've had pretty good luck with the stock propellers and I've flown over water and places I wouldn't want a prop to go flying, but I do think you need to have some extras on hand because with those push-on props, once they've been removed a few times they will come loose, and also, if they are even the slightest bit bent, the quad will shake and your footage won't be smooth. Try fresh props and let me know how it goes!

Oh man, that's too bad you lost your quad with a GoPro on it, it pains me to say it but that's happened to me twice, once with a DJI O3 quad that clipped a branch over water, and once with a 7" long range with an older GoPro... ouch 😩 I also have a CL35 and this quad is quieter than a CL I think because of the duct design, but it's still loud. As someone who started FPV 1.5 years ago with a DJI potato and quickly got into building with the O3 air unit, I am oddly fascinated with analog FPV. It started when I built racers with analog VTXs and, of course the video is terrible compared to the digital systems, but it's not that terrible. Like I can still see where I'm going. Don't get me wrong, the VAST majority of my fleet sport O3AUs with a few vistas sprinkled in for low light capabilities, but for some reason, I keep buying analog components and tinkering with them to try to get the best video possible. Maybe it's the latency that I enjoy so much, idk. I can't really explain it, but I just got a Maten and I can't wait to pair it with the ratel pro and the Phoenix 2 and see how it does. And of course compare it to the 1.6w offerings from iflight and TBS. 😀
