i'd kill for a copy of the background music and the examples without the talking. love both ways, but it'd be cool to better appreciate the way you've combined them all!

A conspiracy theory emerges when something strange happens, many people see it and can not understand it but the official places are telling nothing or blatantly lying about. For ex. how to demolish 3 skyscrapers with 2 planes. The people in these cases will get suspicious and think that the officials are hiding something and "some invisible forces behind" are interested in the event, were able to realize and want to hide the real motivations behind the action. So, some conspiracy theories are right and some are not, but the real cause of their formation is always that the official places are lying and the people are gradually loosing their trust in the official narratives.

I mean AI can be a tool, but the boring stuff is that soon, we're all gonna be making just prompts for everything, in art, the craft is part of the joy, thinking in jobs in agencies or graphic design, even for backgrounds in video games. That is just boring, writing prompts over and over again forever, and the craft will be just for fun and as a hobby.

I got depressed of this limitless copy world last year, a wise man told me that I have to keep doing it, finish something up, and use any way to make something either called a new project or something never done by me and I did. I am now feeling better. Today I found your video. Thank you for your work, now I could also explain to people who question AI is a cheating tool. There is no such thing called original perhaps a few but since the Big Bang, everything is a remix.

I think to understand Part 2 we have to think about Adorno's cultural industry. All movies are the same cause they arent art, they are entertainment, they are products, from Scorsese to Marvel. We dont want them, the system gives them to us

So let me get this straight @kirbyFerguson...you dismiss the argument of Diffusion being copying because it is "complicated". Then you draw a conclusion that Ai is innocent while ignoring the controversy almost completely. You say artist need to adopt? to what exactly? a 6 year old child can use Ai. There is no learning curve or working along side it. This is a tool trained on copyright protected works of art that is designed to replace the artist who's art it stole. Ai is not some mystical entity, this is a tool created by multibillion dollars cooperations. the companies that run this race couldn't care less because they have more legal power then any artist out there or all of us together. This is not a car replacing a horse. this is horseshit replacing gold. The best you can ever hope fore from Ai is the average of the sum of all the shit it was trined upon. This is more then enough to make every artist out ther unemployed for good because people as a mass are bunch of mediocre baboons who seek cheep and instant gratifications. All those great films you sampled in your video to make your point? They will not be made anymore. The artist who worked on making them will soon be replaced by "good enough" Ai. I guess that is just the price of progress. I used to like this film but in its current state it does more bad then good, to mankind, as a whole.

There is a flaw in your assumption in that, whose to say several discoveries were not already discovered by someone else much earlier? It's not always what you know but who you know, after all, that gets an idea the widespread attention it deserves.

Love these videos! However, I have to disagree with your assertion that AI can create 'art.' In my definition and experience, an artist is someone who creates works on various mediums to communicate a specific point of view. Since AI doesn't have its own point of view, it has nothing to communicate. Art is not the final result, but the communication of a singular vision or consistent point of view.

I like the parallel you made with calligraphy because I believe same will happen with art. Calligraphy is undeniably a very beautiful art, but definitely not a job nowadays. Still, there are plenty of "studygrams", or "studblr" basically dedicated to show their pretty handwriting and perfectly symmetric notes. Humans like things made by other humans, regardless or quality. We will always rather appreciate art made by humans than by AI. But even these days is hard to make a living as an artist and it will only get harder and harder.

Copy-transform-combine framework helped me to discover why "bad enterpreneurship ideas" sound bad. For example, an idea goes like this "What if our product combines Product X and Y (vulgar) or Feature A from X and Feature B from Y (more subtle). Both versions miss the copying part (having created a copy of X and Y before) and transforming (discovering and testing the required changes to improve X, Y, A, or B), then directly jump to combining part. That is why these sort of ideas sound unsophisticated, unprocessesed, rip-off get-rich-quick schemes rather than innovative products.

The reason they forbid copying from each other in school while forcing you to copy the teacher is because voluntary copying is the basis of creating, and schools are not there to teach children how to create. They're there to teach children how to conform.

Cultures are met to be shared, not owned. Claiming cultures based on race is racist because it's segregation. Our history has shown that time and time again. Jackie Robertson and Eminem can both speak for that. A culture is a way of life. Cultures are based on your lifestyle your beliefs and Religion. Most cultures around the world evolved around religion. You cannot claim cultures based on race that is extremely racist.

Believing that people talk a certain way based on the color of their skin is racist. That was started by racist white people back in the days of segregation. It was the kkk that brought that to light. There's no such thing as talking black. There's no such thing as talking white. Aquafina was talking hood. I hate to say this, but black people who are not from the hood. Do not talk like that. There's no black accent or a white accent that was made up by racist white people. If you believe that people think, do and say things a certain way then you're no different than a white supremacy. I hate to tell you that. Who do you think started those beliefs. I come from a mixed race family. My mom was white and my step was black and none of my black family members ever talk like that. It wasn't until I moved into the hood. Where I actually heard someone talk like that. That's talking hood, not talking black. There's a difference. Black people who have never lived in the ghetto, who have never lived in the hood. Talk the same way white people do. And here's another fun fact for you. Not all black people like rap music.

Imagine if the idea of cultural appropriation is a right wing psyop to artificially prevent dialogue and shame people into staying in their lane, or ingroup, or racial group out of a misplaced sense of compassion.

Using the word remix to include every form of insight that leads to creativity is dishonest and blurs the line between inspiration and outright stealing. The conversations had about copying is more about how much they copied. Is eight chords of a melody enough? Maybe a guitar riff played in the background. Or a story about a futuristic robot cop.

Wow! I first watched EIAR over a decade ago and I never forgot it. In light of all the controversy about AI images I decided to look your video up again and here you've gone and made updated versions! I know you say this is your last, but considering how much text to image AI has progressed in the past 12 months alone, I suspect you might have to revisit this topic. Kurzweil was on Joe Rogan a few weeks back and he thinks we are only a few years away from AGI:) Excellent video.

Been a fan since I came across a version of this video from over 10 years ago. It's a very important and nuanced topic that should be discussed more open-mindedly. It's pretty cool that it keeps getting updated and I'm a little sad that it may stop here. Sidenote: "sus" doesn't come from Among Us. It was used in a very different manner prior to that game. Etymology is fun.
