hey man, you should check your pedals, maybe clean your throttle area or contacts (don't remember what set you have right now) or set a small deadzone at the top of the range (preferably in the pedal software, not in iRacing, that is a nightmare to set up). I can see some flutter when you are full on the gas. Might be costing you valuable time. BTW have you limited the range of the brake intentionally to not overbrake too much? That trace looks suspicious to me. Also noticed, that you were being followed by Jonathan Felix. I have raced with him tonight in the GR86 cup and we had a small incident together. Overall racing incident. I spun him out when he drifted slightly into me in Druids

I can see the same. Suggestions for Thedo: you are braking too late and too hard, and loose very much time in late exits because of that. It may feel you are catching up because of the deep entries you get but actually overall you loose laptime. Would suggest to remove the brake limiter and learn to do it with a brake that goes to 100. Also look at transition to trail braking earlier to gain rotation there.
@Django45

@@quazster AFAIK, Thedo does not have Loadcell pedals yet. So he may be trying to make it easier to race with what he has. For loadcells it is surely better to use whole range and learn better trail braking.

@@Django45 @quazster Yeah my pedals are most likely dusty. I'll have to clean them out. I still use my G923 pedals. I limited my brakes to 90% in order to prevent abs from kicking in. I used that setting in the Mazda's last season, and kept it. But I tried it without the limiter, because of you guys' suggestion, and also decreased the brake force factor to 2.5 and noticed a lot more braking accuracy and the ability to rotate better. I feel like I'm able to close in on the faster guys this way, marginally, but still nonetheless!

Hey Thedo, great video. Yep, get the bb back in fixed. At least 4 clicks. I go 6-7 clicks back in the Merc and do low 57s in fixed. Also, would be cool to see your incident count in the overlay. About the incident in the last corner. It is hard to do, but sometimes you can avoid these incidents by checking the closing speed of the following car and realizing he will crash into you. If you see this is going to happen you can get off the brakes a bit quicker or even go on throttle. It makes you miss your line, but could avoid a crash. Maybe not in this case, but in general.

@@RedBeardRacingRBR You´re very welcome. The standard BB in fixed is stable, but very understeery. More clicks back make it more pointy and oversteery. Now, while oversteer while braking can be dangerous, it is only dangerous if you don´t expect it. If you are used to the standard BB, ease your way into it. Go 2 clicks down and do a few laps, see how it feels. Eventually you will find what feels good for you. Also, it is a good idea to do half your target clicks for lap 1 with cold tires and then after lap 1 do the rest of the clicks. So if your target is 4 clicks, do 2 clicks to start and then another 2 clicks after lap 1.

The first incident was a little bit on you. You sort of squeezed the guy next to you, thinking it was just 2 wide, but he had a third one on his inside and you pushed him into that guy's front and he pitted himself over his bumper. It was a bit of a fustercluck. Pretty decent pace. Try playing with the BB more to the rear, so you can reduce the ABS activation on the fronts and improve turn in for corners.

suellio almeida has a racing course if you are wanting to get faster you can buy it. watch his channel if you want to be convinced. my advice would be try a pro setup and maybe use the gears to turn the car more. get consistent brake markers and the reason you are probably getting understeer is that you may be trailing off too quickly making the front go light too soon.

This track is pretty tricky. Especially the double right hander after start. I did not practice a lot but I managed just about 1:46s. Managed P5 in GT4 fixed and 22nd to 6th in the SCC. Just keeping it clean and planning my overtakes, trying to throw off people ahead with faked moves and avoiding aggressive racing gone bad gave me a lot of places. really tough braking hard enough to stop and not enough to push into ABS too much. That then kills front end grip and understeers if in ABS when trailing in. I race M4 as I said in previous video and I run about 1% less BB than default, sometimes even slightly less than that to get better turn in on brakes. You seem to be dropping brakes too fast, going from full brakes to trailing. Not enough braking during transition. Definitely look into Suellio Almeida's Press Less Technique for brake pedal control. Make sure you have your heel lifted when braking and just measure the pressure when moving into trailing

Hey Man! KZfaq algorithm sent me here to help I guess haha! Love the idea of showing your journey and GT4 is my favorite series! I'll say this was a super tricky track and took me a few hours of practice to get my times down. Definitely very technical and doesn't flow super well to me. I was able to get down to 1:44.8 at Navarra this week in the Porsche, so hopefully I can help a little! I only watched the first 10 minutes, but some pointers to help: Looks like your biggest problem is what you mentioned: understeer (which is everyone's problem with GT4s, especially coming from the pointy MX-5). Watching the vid, I see you steering a ton into the corner and the car is just pushing wide. I can see you're trail braking, but it's just not quite enough for the GT4s. The best thing I'd suggest that helped me a ton is to watch this video and try what Suellio says of spinning the car out on purpose: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mryWdtl-yMqxqIk.html&ab_channel=SuellioAlmeida He gives helpful techniques on how to do it. Once you can learn how much trail braking it takes to spin the car, you can reign it in and hopefully find neutral steer through corner entry, mid-corner, and corner exit. The idea especially on this track is to rotate early before the apex, then get on the throttle early before you even hit the apex and neutral steer all the way to the track out. My fastest times, I was barely turning the steering wheel through most of the corner and using the brake pedal and engine braking to steer. Other things that helped me a ton are looking up the "press-less" technique from Suellio, and having light hands on the steering wheel (almost using only your fingertips to let the wheel adjust around to the road surface). Another tip (which I can't tell in your video) is to be careful with the ABS. My best laps I was only slightly in the ABS on the hardest brake zones, then out of ABS when turning in. ABS kills rotation (in iRacing at least). This was especially hard in the first corner as you have to brake hard, release the brakes a little, and then brake hard again before the sharp hairpin. Hope that helps and hopefully I'll see you out on the track in the next GT4 race! Subbed!

Hey man! Thanks for stopping by! I get what you mean by saying the flow doesn't it do it for you. It didn't do it for me either. I think my weakness is mostly visible in hairpins! 1:44.8 is an awesome laptime! I'm wayy off haha! GT4 is awesome! Thanks for the link to the video! I watched it and found it very useful! I watched a similar video by Suellio earlier in which he talks about the same topic of inducing oversteer and spinning on purpose, but this video showing a GT3 is much closer to the GT4! I still have to look at the "press-less" technique though. I don't really know how much ABS is used during braking with the Mercedes, I see the purple and blue lights pop up on the dash, but I can't tell if that means ABS is activated or not, or how much is used... Thank you so much for subscribing! I'm currently practicing for the Mugello race and so far I managed to do a 1:57.7 or something. I used what I've learned in the video, and your tips and they've helped me quite a lot! Especially trailbraking further into corners! See you on track! 😁✌

No overlays? 😢 I don't own misano yet, so I took a week off. 😅 That was a tough start, like a pinball in a pinball machine. I guess your focus got ruined after that. Noticed a lot of inconsistent driving, pushing too much into some corners and losing on the exit. Also that made for an unstable platform and you often almost lost the rear, trying to compensate for the bad entry and mid corner on the gas exiting. The double right before the long straight was the worst offender. You came in too tight, did not prepare for the exit and had a bad run out of it almost every time. definitely lost a lot of time on that straight

Yeah the chaos at the start caught me really off guard. I've never experienced anything like this... My focus was indeed ruined. It was also very hot inside, so that didn't help either. I got a little tired as well. I did a race before this one that night, but I forgot to press record. I came in 7th, starting from p8. Misano is a great and fun track, especially when you get it right! That double right hander is tricky though, because the second right hander is not a full 180 degree hairpin, so it required as slightly different approach, because it does feel like a full hairpin. I didn't get that one haha. I noticed when I was watching the video, where my markers were. I didn't have them clear for myself. After I studied them, I did a little practice using my newly found markers, instead of guessing where to brake/turn-in/etc, I immediatly shaved of a tenth off of my PB! I managed to get a 1:42.8! So fresh reminder of setting markers! 😁

If you plan to take racing seriously for the forseeable future, you should definitely look at some mid range pedals with a loadcell. It will change your braking game and your life. It definitely has done that for me. I went for the CSL elite V2 pedals. There are a lot of options for decent sets these days. It will take you time to get used to it, but your braking confidence will go through the roof (if you set the pedal correctly, lots of guides on youtube. I used Boosted Media guide). I think I gained like over a second or more per lap after 14 days and kept improving my technique over the year I have it now. Just dont go for the hardest feeling brake right off the bat if you get an adjustable elastomer stack. You can learn trailbraking on potentiometer brake as well, but it takes a lot more effort and focus to do well. Before I went to a loadcell, every braking zone felt like stepping into mud, not knowing what will happen next. nice recap of your season. I hope to see more of the GT4 stuff from you.

@@RedBeardRacingRBR the quality of T-LCM pedals is only worth going for if you need to stay in one brand ecosystem for consoles. It looks flimsy. A buddy of mine talked me out of them when I was first looking around. I had T300RS GT and that felt like an affordable set for it. But I dont do console. With Loadcells, it is definitely a good idea to get at least some sturdy half rig (probably not the foldable tube rigs, they are pretty flimsy). Bolting it down and having everything in the same place every time can make it easier to be consistent with inputs and seating position. Also I feel that the pedals could just pivot around the base if not mounted. When you use the proper braking technique and lift the heel off the plate when braking to have better control over force application and release and less strain on your ankle and calf, using your stronger thigh muscles Me, I dont have room for a full stand-alone rig with a seat, so I went for NLR Wheelstand 2.0 that can accommodate an office chair with the included cradle. I put it close to my table and have my display on a display arm that I can pull forward and close to the rig. It is not perfect positioning, but I can deal. For portability I got their set of lockable castor wheels, but it made the rig higher and slightly less stable. I am a tall boy (193cm) and my pedal plate is about as far back as it can go, that is making the rig pivot around the rear wheels when I brake hard. I got into a bad habit of holding my wheel tight and pulling the rig down. I had to jury-rig an upgrade with a 5Kg weight attached on the front side below my legs to balance it out better. I dont know how different it will be for you, compared to the logitech pedals, I had the thrustmaster ones. The main difference is the way the braking is applied. No longer distance based with some resistance at the end of the travel, but fully force based. with quite a bit less travel overall.

If you don't mind, you should be able to run both GT4 fixed and SCC multiclass. It is 2x the length, though. But you will learn a lot about managing traffic and avoiding take outs from faster class If your frames suck, try looking up guides to get best bang for graphical buck. I would suggest having Max Cars at 63 but draw like 20 in front and 4 in mirrors. Also reduce the amount of pit stalls you draw, I heard some people had small stuttering when pits were in their FoV even when they did not physically see the pits. It is pointless resource drain.

@@RedBeardRacingRBR I was able to get low 1:30s on a good day but in the race managed mid to high 1:30s. I decided to drive BMW the entire season. I dont run any custom setups, just clicked one less wing for the high downforce preset. The GT4s are overall more stable than Mazda but a lot faster, so you need to learn how to react quicker. I heard you say that you expected more crashes, since mazdas had lots, this is the reason. I would not say it is easier or harder than Mazda, it is different. The LMP is a different beast to GTs, it has more aero and needs a very different approach, especially on brakes, since it has no ABS, just TC and if you downshift too fast to 2nd, you can easily lock the rears when braking somewhat hard. I was running the fixed setup with BB 2 clicks to the back and I was careful with downshifts to 2nd. It can be snappy on curbs or compressions under braking or coasting while changing directions. Aero is still a bit of a mystery to me, since I was always a GT boy. But I am learning.

I did a little bit of driving in the FIA F4 as well. Which I suppose has some similarities with the LMP's. The F4 feels super quick as well! I'm considering adding that as an additional series. Thanks buddy! It's going to be GT4! I was still having my doubts, because I didn't like tha handling of the Porsche. But yesterday, I tried the Mercedes and I loved it! I was half a second faster than I was in the Porsche within three laps. 😁✌🏻

That was a really enjoyable race to watch! I can’t believe how fast the front runners in these races are… Mazda races always seem to have a few guys who blitz me no matter how hard I practice

Thank you so much buddy! Yeah some guys are insane! I feel like they just start over again with iRacing, or have a lot of experience with other sims. Like the guy who finished in 2nd this, started from 5th. 🥲 How do you practice? I've noticed that practicing methodically really helps getting faster! If there's any advice I could give it's learn how to use trailbraking! That alone saves up to 1,0 -2,0 seconds per lap.

@@RedBeardRacingRBR I'm pretty methodical actually! Probably just impatient to race, more than anything. A bit like you - I get a fast time that I think is fairly good, but then in a race they're somehow even faster than that. (I loved your "my own lap was faster than my track guide ... but ... he's still faster?!" moment, very relatable!) Game-changer for me getting up to speed faster was using Garage61 (or VRS) to find where to focus + an idea where to start, and then Active Reset to do one small section 100 times until I got it right.

Haha I get it buddy! I was also very impatient to race. But because I make video's now, I like to practice more so that I just have to record one race for a video. So during weekends I practice the upcoming track for about 2-3 hours before I do the race. One hour at a time tops. I find that sticking to one particular series helps a lot in improving your skills. The skills you have obtained with one series will transfer to other series. I used to suck at a lot of series because I never properly learned how to be good at one particular series. 🤣 Garage61 seems very helpful! Great for analyzing what the fast guys are doing. Have you watched Suelio Almeida by any chance? He has some great coaching video's in which he breaks down different driving techniques. They've helped me a lot! Active restarts are also a great tool!

Yoo man! Thanks! 🥲

Hey! Nice race. Do you use Blips of throttle during the race?
@RedBeardRacingRBR
@RedBeardRacingRBR 3 ай бұрын
Hey man! Thank you so much! I'm not sure what you mean, but I have my clutch set to 'Auto Blip', so that it automatically blips during downshifts. It's a lifesaver haha. During the race I sometimes blip the throttle to stabilize the car during cornering though, usually with long sweeping corners like turn 3 and 4 on this particular track. I hope that answers your question! 😁✌🏻

@@RedBeardRacingRBR Ahhh, thank you so much. Need to check Auto Blip feature. As I don'thave clutch pedal and car behaves super unstable sometimes once I downshift
