I plan on buying this camera after sending back my Rode VideoMicro 2 which was horrible in outdoors. I shoot mostly wildlife in nature and while hiking, sometimes that can be pretty quiet as well. Do you think the noise will be a problem in that environment?

I'm surprised this works. Headphones on mixers are not line level but headphone level and have a different impedance because they are driving such small speakers that are in the headsets. I usually run through a DI Box or interface between a mixer and a 3.5 port. I'm trying to either achieve line level or mic level depending on if it's leaving the mixer or coming into the mixer. My guess is that the ATEM is basically pre-amping the signal and cleaning the signal as the headphone signal would need to be boosted. Headphone outs are also prone to slight noise when doing this as well. Would it technically be better to run from an aux out or two aux outs into a Radial Pro or something like that which would convert the signal to stereo and allow you to adjust the level?

Would you still recommend that mic in 2024?

Thanks!! This is great. I'm going to be trying to use the Mixcast 4 to ATEM Mini Pro, then to server/online, and finally to a TV channel. The TV station only wants an SD resolution signal, like below 480 for sure. I'm semi-confident with the online/live streaming aspect. So basically, I'm a videographer with a decent amount of audio knowledge who is learning trial-by-fire style. Any recommendations??? Thanks!!! You never explained why/how the sync audio to video is some tedious or complex. I see pros (like you) talking about how external audio is such a pain. I'm a noob and I just do it in like 3 clicks. So I am clearly missing some level of quality or some complexity. Just curious if you were going to reveal that secret. Why do the pros claim it is some massive amount of work? Neat video but I'll stick to my select the video/select the audio and click on "sync audio/video"

what a waste of time

My issue is that I have TRRS headphones that I want to plug into a TRS socket on my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 BUT the headphone's TRRS jack is 3.5mm and the Focusrite socket is 6.35mm! 🙂Crawling the net for an adaptor!

Riverside is still having sync issues, but I found at least one fix for this. I was using riverside with Google Chrome, but when I switched to using Microsoft Edge during my recordings, the sync issues have (for now) disappeared. I'm not sure what the difference between the two are but its something to try to see if it works for others.

On 7/8 and 9/10 these channels are stereo. Now my question is these channels have left and right. Now can these be recorded in mono x two? If so how do you do that because I tried this using a MXR on the top and a 1/4 on the bottom of this connection and I got a deadline at the bottom. So does it need to be both, needing to be both 1/4 for it to record?

LOL Dude why does the smart phone capture fuller more robust sound than the pro audio recorder which sounded WAY more narrowed to the mids.

I need this same solution but i need to have the external recorder record 4 channel, but i still want its line out to split the audio into 2 channels i.e. on external i have 4 mics, on the camera the sound would be 2 mics on left ,2 mics on right. the point here is if people ever talk over each other the external recording would be my safety.

It seems that you have the same problem with MKE400 like I have with MKE 440 & A7IV - High background noise. Have you tried to dial it further ? Any improvements since this video has been published ?

Thanks for the honesty. Great video. I'll be honest. I'm new to editing and I have already experienced NOW in 2024 the drift issues. Why should I stay with Riverside if all I want is an easy solution for recording? I dropped ZOOM but now wonder if that is the right choice. The drift is very distracting and does take away from my followers experience. Not sure what to do now because all the information you provided is way beyond what I want to do with two podcasts to edit. Kudos back to you on this tutorial.
