That was the best swim we've seen from you in like...EVER. When I saw you running to T1 with the leaders I thought.. he's going to blow them all away! 😲The bike & run we didn't see your usual dominance... but you got a better bike run in you than anybody. You had a 'bad day' for you in those phases... which happens to everyone from time to time. Maybe you've been focusing on lifting your swim, and maybe that hurt your bike run in the short term, maybe there's some other reason, or maybe it was just a bad day 🤔Ever since I been following you I've been thinking the same thing: "When that young man sorts out his swim, ain't nobody gonna be able to stay with him, not nobody." You're the best at two out of the three disciplines, and really weak (relatively) in the third, and you're winning more than you're not even given that... so you have this big space to improve in that your competition lacks. We saw something from you we've not seen before from you, and thats the +ve takeaway. That's HUGE 😁

I wonder if the course would be better suited for a road bike. Are the pros required to ride tri bikes in this race?
@SamYoYoYoLong6 күн бұрын
We can ride whatever bike we choose. I don’t think a lot of us really knew how hilly the course was--or at least I certainly didn’t. But a TT bike is probably still faster

Mate you’re not doing 1500m or 5000m track races here. You’re racing hard all day. I’m amazed how many races you do as it is but seriously you can’t do this every weekend. Give yourself a rest. Even track guys only do a few big races a season. Make sure you take care of yourself champ.

Don't beat up on yourself Sam. You had a bad race (by comparison to he awesome way you've been performing this season), and the bad races are always going to feel tougher than when you're winning. You look for any obvious mistakes, learn to avoid them in future, and then you close the book on that race and move on. You'll bounce buddy, you're too good at this to fail. ✊👍

Wait. You swim, bike, and run for a living? Most people work 50 hour jobs they hate and have no time train. You’re living the dream. Just have a plan B when’s it’s all over. Only thing people will remember is to win Kona even though the T100 is more financially lucrative. I hope either Lionel or you do it.
@hans29738 күн бұрын
Had to comment on this “people have no time to train bs”. He might be living the dream but only because of his great attitude. Going out there every day no matter how you feel, presenting yourself in the media, dealing with success and failure…All that is so much more difficult than the average-joe’s life.

Sam - Take a breath and look at what you have achieved already. You are human and, if the body and the brain did not respond the way you wanted then be happy with what you did achieve on the day. You have immense talent, motivation and you are still young. Enjoy the break. Enjoy your family. SF is already in the past and you should now look to the rest of the season.

Heck of a race Sammy! With you coming out of the water with the pack, you’re going to be dangerous going forward. You’re not used to that right now so just got to get the game plan figured and you’ll be winning these left and right!

Hmmm, I got choked up watching this,,,my third sense, one I went to the race, ducks yellow sweat shirt:] I gave you a loud go Sam every pass, actually practiced ran with the women field out on the trail, and I did run with men out of the water, lol all in all very impressed on what great athletes everyone is,,,my dream win hawii ironman, has changed build my own million dollar race win that, and will say, happiness, happy people, or even say happy team, we are happy, now there is another team, unhappy, now this team trys to make us unhappy, join their team, what we need to do, is try and make them happy, so it's a battle back and forth, one could say, like star wars, and very few of us on good team, and tons on the bad team, or unhappy team, just know, love, happiness is way more powerfu 13:47 l then the other, so as long , get it, long as you fight with love and happiness you will win, or at least keep fight, and say on the happy team, as happy team, loves to live dreams:) and lastly, just know, I quit swimming because of guys like you in high school, every reach, stroke, and out reach me, swimming should be your best stroke, and will be, if you think and believe like that, now you being such a big guy on the bike, and run, that's where a smaller guy should beat you, thanks for the great race, I relive it a lot, and just put my self in it to, funny brain can't tell the truth, lol so this is where we can't trick it:)

Emotional stress is equivalent to or greater than physical stress and will prevent any physiologic improvement and reduce performance. It would be as though you had doubled your training volume.
