This is a great video! Yes, you should update to the latest update you can but theoretically as long as you're not stupid and follow the advice in this video, you will be fine (people will hate me for saying that). I am very guilty of running older software. For example, my iPhone 13 Pro which I daily is still running iOS 15.7 from 2022. People tell me I need to update but it still works fine and I have not had any issues. Now apps are starting to not be supported but most apps I need work. Now if I were a celebrity and people were after me then I would definitely update. But I'm just a nobody so I'm not too worried. My home file and time machine server which is only accessible inside my network runs OS X Yosemite on a 2010 Mac mini. Now obviously if I was going to make it accessible online I might update it to High Sierra but I'm not too concerned. As for my secondary 2014 macbook air, I run the sonoma patcher. However, the patcher isn't completely secure as you have to run with system integrity protection disabled (the only issue I've seen this causing is certain apps like those annoying proctoring apps schools make you install require it and don't work). However, as long as you're not stupid you are totally fine. So overall, it's about following some simple guidelines and not being stupid. As long as you're not a celebrity people are after and are not being stupid, you are honestly fine running old software. However, you should stay up to date if you can.

I lost my mint condition refurbished 2016 iPhone SE in the beginning of April. I loved that phone, because it was so small, and still getting updates from Apple. Anyway, I bought a refurbished mint condition iPhone 13 Mini for 450€, and love it. It´s slightly larger, bzt still very small, and the battery life lasts me 24-28 hours. :) Very happy!!! :)

20:43 tuning in from Singapore. That building does look unique, but we've got something similar over here-the Apple Marina Bay Sands. It's this futuristic, spherical structure that seems to float on the water, offering 360-degree views of the skyline. Its all-glass design reflects the cityscape, making it blend seamlessly with its surroundings during the day and glow like a lantern at night. Truly a standout piece of architecture in our city!

One perk of Apple Silicon is once you updated to 14.5 I think it was, you get a patch that does security updates even if you can’t update macOS any longer (so they say). That’s great for me cause I have kept my last 3 laptops 7-10 years each. I’ve been having some software issues but not entirely sure that’s Apples fault. With all that said though, I don’t think I’d use any computer that doesn’t have OEM security updates. Just to risky.. someone changes my passwords or gets a bank account and you’re screwed. I don’t have extra money for that big a hit. Ends up being cheaper to own a system that’s current w security updates.

Don’t forget Apple has always created, designed, sourced the materials, calibrated and optimized all their displays. The phones should basically be identical when Apple is dealing with a high level manufacturer. They do not pay any company licensing fees for display technology, Apple pays for the company’s manufacturing component, the actual building of the display. Apple does not manufacture any product. Most American companies do not. I think that’s a bad idea but china won that cheap labor argument decades ago.
@craigneidel
@craigneidel 13 сағат бұрын
Yes, I just thought it was weird that so many people make the screens for a given year. Yes, China does most of this cheap labor and it might be the only reason they are not trying to take Taiwan now because if they did they could lose that market. But, I think it's moving to other places now like India and Vietnam.

@@craigneidel yes, it started with oil. The world needed oil to operate and the traditional oil rich countries had outsized power over oil dependent countries. America fortunately was not as dependent as Europe and China on maintaining “friendly” relations with oil bullies. We were also number one producing solar power but Trump dismantled that and refocused on oil and coal. EV’s changed the equation. China and Europe jumped on the opportunity to decrease their oil dependence but China then tried to flex their manufacturing dominance. After China basically took over a couple of companies, Apple wisely decided to diversify manufacturing.

ApplePay is just as secure, perhaps more secure, than using a credit card. First you have to swipe your phone at the payment terminal. The phone then asks you to double click the side button and you have to hold it up to your face to be recognised before you scan it at the terminal a second time. I guess if someone held a gun to your head they’d get your money, but people don’t carry guns where I live. If you’re really worried, just use a debit card with a low withdrawal limit for ApplePay purchases and leave your credit card in a safe place at home where it’s less likely to be scanned or stolen.

@@craigneidel I owe you an apology, now that I've viewed the entire video. I have 2010 Mac Pro desktop, running Ventura with OpenCore Patcher. At first, installing OpenCore Patcher can be a little scary; however, someone like Jesse of Jesse's Flying (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/icB-ZsRq2azWdIk.html) is really good at guiding you through the process. If you can, install OpenCore Patcher and a newer OS on a separate hard drive; therefore, if something gets screwed up all you'll lose is a little bit of time. Installing one of the newer systems, such as Ventura or Sonoma, insures that you have the most recent security updates. There's a couple other advantages to using an operating system such as Ventura or Sonoma: Even on my ancient computer, they run faster and smoother. In general, my computer is more of a pleasure to use in almost anything I do. Also, any Photoshop user needs to have Ventura or Sonoma if you want to take advantage of the new AI features. Something to watch out for in the OpenCore installation process: At the very end of the install, it will ask if you want to install "Post-Install Patches," and it will ask you if you want your boot files copied to your hard drive. Click YES for each. This sounds complicated, but it isn't. You just have to be on the lookout for these options toward the end of that install. I'm running Ventura rather than Sonoma, because Sonoma is a little slower. You probably wouldn't notice this, unless your a Photoshop user.
