I really liked how Angela and Keith took the "Backbone" comment, because I do think that's what his strength is. Being the backbone doesn't mean you are the only one that matters, it just means you provide a much needed support to everyone else that allows them to stand strong as well. And I think that fits Shayne incredibly well.

people get mixed up, shayne being the backbone doesn't mean he's necessarily the funniest or best actor that's subjective (personally i'd say tommy's the funniest and angela's the best overall performer) but he does most things well and he knows how to play off the rest of the cast to a level no one else can
