You have a new subscriber here!!! I have been looking for a natural hair youtuber like you that discusses the product ingredients from a chemical perspective and how they may react with the hair, while observing the performance of the products based on their chemical components. I love that you evaluated them in a very articulated and intelligent way, instead if just how aesthetically pleasing it feels on the hair. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 You rock!!!!

Works for me, but I have really naturally curly hair. Even the leave-in conditioner alone will curl it beautifully. It all depends on your hair texture.

What's the base study?

I explain it pretty well in the beginning of the first ever Base Study Video here --> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n891o9Fkuc6wpmw.html The other type of video in the series is the Wrap Up for each base. Here is the first one of those --> kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qb6knJpmp7CRZI0.html

Hi Kayla. KZfaq recommended your video. It’s so nice to see your channel. I haven’t made a video in almost 12 years.😅 I graduated from Paul Mitchell and went back to uni, so I did not have time to make videos. I still use my favorite products from my videos, and still do either a wash n go or bun. I recently cut my hair back to armpit length to suit my lifestyle. Since my KZfaq days, I enjoy my hair more at that length than having it down my back but my girls are used to me keeping it at waist length so they want me to let it grow back. My two daughters have tail bone length hair. They are 8 and 5 years old. My oldest has 4a/4b and my youngest has 3c/4a like me. They recently discovered my channel and now watch my videos. I use mainly salon products (Giovanni, Philip Kingsley, Ouidad, Keracare, Kenra , Chi, Paul Mitchell or Joico), and clay for washing. To style I still use leave-in/oil/gel method for my hair and for the girls I do leave-in/cream since they mainly wear braids or cornrows. They swim 2-3 times a week so oil and clarifying shampoos are still staples. I’ve realized from the OG KZfaq days that methods are most important in haircare. A great product in the wrong hands will still yield bad results. I miss the old KZfaq days and I’m happy to see you and other OG naturals still creating content. You’re a breath of fresh air from the commercialized content.

Thanks for this video. For Obia Curl Enhancing Custard, is that a gel you would use in the summer/when it's humid? Thanks.
@WhatTheKink11 күн бұрын
YES! It has a lot of oils to keep that xanthan gum from flaking so it tends to fair better in humidity. Just make sure you use enough to set the hair to your liking. I have also topped it with Paul Mitchell volume gel (purple) for an extra shield.

@@WhatTheKink It's funny that it was like water on my hair! I live in a highly hot and humid industrial city (Lagos, Nigeria) and the only thing that works is any gel with strong plasticisers like Wetline and Göt2b
@WhatTheKink10 күн бұрын
@@uberhaute_naturalz84 DEFINITELY! Especially since the temperature, humidity %, and dew point tend to differ only by a few between there and here.

Best advice ever. Thank you.🙏🏽 2+ years into my natural hair journey and I’ve come full circle. The products highly recommended by a friend who is a stylist that worked super well when I first started out, are the core products that really work on…with…for my hair. So, I keep it simple and that is what I use. That magic product craze, it’s real and I unplugged from it have been cured from the natural hair consumerism bug. My hair is far happier and me too. Blessings to you you, Kayla💕

This is great advice! The climate in your location can also affect the results people get even if they use the same product and techniques.

Without a doubt! This stuff I use for humidity is too much elsewhere!

At the end of the day I like products that perform with the skills and techniques I have at this point. Giovanni was a good starter brand for me to learn basic concepts of proper cleansing, conditioning and styling on a regular basis but I liked the performance of other things over the years and swapped them out but in honesty my hair would perform better now with those products because my hair is just in better conditon.

Wow i didn't expect a review! Glad to get a review from someone i'd trust altho i've already decided my opinion on the brand. the shampoo being your fav doesn't surprise me! I feel like i've seen the best reviews across the board for the shampoo. The Homecurl looks a lot more pleasant used for twists and twist outs than i thought. but not surprised about either conditioner and deep conditioner unfortunately

Am I tripping or do I feel like you rarely get any breakage when washing ur hair? At least in ur videos? 🤩
@WhatTheKink19 күн бұрын
lol. Not tripping. While some breakage is always inevitable, the bulk of my hair fall is natural shedding.

@@WhatTheKink Thank you so much! I switched to weekly washing and using detangling tools about a year ago, and since I switched from finger detangling to using brushes, I've been freaking out nearly every week about how much shed hair I'm losing. Would you say your hair now is much longer than it was in the video you linked? Or about the same?
@WhatTheKink24 күн бұрын
@cassenav I can’t really compare because I had a major haircut last Fall and do not know the stretched length of my hair at the time of the linked video.

Thanks. I've been natural for 12+ years. I never got the washing your scalp only. That's like bathing the top half of your body and letting the soap run down your body. Yes, shampoo is for the scalp, but your hair shaft also picks up all kinds of nasties and dirt. I also rinse for a while and do at least 2 washes. I loved Giovanni 50:50 back in the day. I have it on my list to revisit. I have returned to many of my old favorites in the past few years. They actually worked better than a lot of the new products I've tried.
