Why would the Francophone nations want to work with France after all that it has done on the continent? So now that Europe can no longer exploit Africa, they want to frame any foreign relation dealings associated with Africa and the East + Russia as a security issue. This Uber CEO spoke the facts, but Tesla fanboys will just flat out reject his opinion not based on rationale but simply because they believe in Elon. Waymo and Baidu are already providing robotaxi service. Anyone who dive into the business will be able to recognise the complexity of robotaxi business and not the simplistic projection fantasing how easy it is to make big money from robotaxi.

Who exactly will INSURE a self-driving car? I suspect that my insurance company will put a rider on my Tesla policy stating that they are not responsible for damages when FSD (not-supervised) is engaged. Will Tesla insure? Who will show up when a Tesla runs over a pedestrian or cyclist that jumps out from between parked cars? Who will be 1st to put their child on the front seat, kiss them on the forehead, and tell their Tesla to take that child to school, then stop at McD for a burger before returning home? This ain't happening any time soon.

I used to work at Uber (2018-2020) and to Dara's credit, he was quite candid with hard news - but I would be very far from describing Uber's culture as no BS. There were tons of BS and very basic (but highly financially consequential decisions) were misunderstood by skip managers and above. L7s not being able to do L3s jobs is extremely bad for the company. It is no surprise for me that UberEats was crushed by DoorDash.

why no socks budget? Also note Waymo,Cruise, and Tesla(soon) use/need remote operators, this is why they don't need to Solve Self-Driving. Driving is simply augmented with remote operators..say one human for 25 Waymo cars in a live fleet. --- so Waymo vs. Uber vs Tesla is a capital game, who is willing to spend more on fleet and remote operators, and market capture. And in Tesla's case they could create some revenue sharing scheme to enlist the musk fan boys. Yet, regulation (AI) in this case will favour Uber , Uber will want Regulation lol- of ai cars . - interesting times
