I’ll always love this hike. I’ve done it many times, it’s a great hike to get a taste for bigger mountain ascents.

They're doing the silent version. You don't see that often. It's done as a sign of devotion. As proud as I am of being a Marine, I'm even more proud when I see the Sentinels do their duty with such dedication. OUTSTANDING!!! OOH RAH!!! Q

We have visited Rhyolite on several occasions. What a wonderful Ghost town with quite a history. When we last visited Rhyolite in 1972, none of the structures were fenced off nor were there historical plaques at most of the buildings. I assume back then Rhyolite was still privately owned prior to the BLM purchasing the land. BTW, this was an excellent video and musical score. Jay, you did a spectacular job Sir !

I love Nevada. These old ghost towns are so cool. I love the ruins left behind. Including the pictures of what they used to look like was neat. Too bad they were all fenced off, except for the few at the end. That’s when a drone comes in handy. 👍

Have a photo taken in 1959-60 of a cracked store window, two pieces of wood, one inside the other outside with a bolt holding it together. Have seen many changes but all in good taste. A number of the houses are habitable for winter use, you just need to know the right people.

Interesting. Good to know. That would be a cool experience to stay up there. I also know they do tours at night when buildings are lit up. Adds a whole new element to the experience.

Unfortunately all of the buildings will be gone in the future. Bodie is in a state of arrested decay, so buildings are not restored. From what I understand they will patch roofs or repair broken windows but that’s about it.

You make it look better than most. Quite a few contemporary structures(trailers). Expensive RVs. Saw one vid where they stopped and tried to talk to people and they seemed like a collection of psychos and those running from the law. Population 50? I drove through once. Looked pretty abandoned.

It definitely is more alive then other “ghost towns”. There were people out and about as I was going thru. I feel like the people that live there do so for economic reasons as well as being away from society. Slab City is definitely way more sketchy.

Very nice. The music was perfect for this video. I normally don’t care too much for these driving tours but this was filled with old cars, barns, junk, and dilapidated building. I felt like it was Mike and Frank on American Pickers but better. 👍

Thanks Craig. The history of Keeler (and the Owens Valley in general) is really interesting and sad at the same time. Things would be so much different there if all their water wasn’t sucked dry to feed LA. The poor people that live there now have to suffer adverse health effects due to blowing dust from the dry lake bed.

I believe they have internet. Cheap land and housing on main highway. Plenty of water from Darwin Falls, a tourist attraction. Post office like 2 days a week. Panamint Springs is more or less booming. I think one operational mine. Like Keeler. Much rather be here than Slab City.

I've been to Slab City and Bombay Beach before (check out my other videos). I will be posting a video on Keeler soon as well. I'm honestly kind of drawn to these types of places. I find them very interesting. Definitely not an easy lifestyle but people make it work. Darwin is without a doubt safer than Slab City.
@rogersmith7396
@rogersmith7396 Жыл бұрын
@@jaywilliams2408 When I was out there Panamint Springs was just a small campground/motel with diesel generators and no phone. I understand its much bigger now. And Darwin has all services and good road access. There are several vids on it. It is mostly retirees with cheap lifestyles. Other than the heat I can see it. Slab City, no. Colorado has some abandoned towns, Vicksburg and one behind the Argo Mill on I 70 (Russel Gulch) which people have moved into. I guess you could go to Oatman or Tombstone. Jerome, Bisbee. Roswell looked abandoned when I was there but maybe its coming back. I could have said Cripple Creek or Central City CO. but since they put in gambling they are wall to wall packed. Same thing for Rapid City SD. Glad I saw things before they changed for the worse.
