The minute someone calls someone that might have and sense the desperation they will jack the price up. Then again how many of these are left that people are willing to restore?

I've got a '66 Barracuda Formula S and have not one, not two, but three spare rear windows and I don't believe you, Tom. I know I'm sitting on a goldmine in the corner of the garage......... Just a matter of time, mark my words. 50, 100 years from now my great, great grandkids will cash in. On a serious note, two windows came with the car, the third window came from a new neighbor who had one in his back yard (came with the house) and he gave it to me. Yes, gave. Apparently he didn't know the goldmine he was sitting on.

I saw that junk yard episode where the two idiots put the Barracuda back window on a couple metal welding horses and then bumped it.... down it came shattered. They found another in another junkyard and the guy wanted $5000 for the whole car and wouldn't just sell the window. And, he kept threatening to smash it. Later I looked on epay and there were several for around $300.

When they do break they explode like a 12 gauge shotgun shell. I side hit a telephone pole right in front of the rear wheel doing 30-40 ish and the window blew into little squares that they spent a while at the emergency room picking some of the pieces out of my back that went through my tee shirt. Nothing to serious just broke the skin but I have never forgot that one.

I remember that show and they bought another window from another scrap yard. I have a '60 Fury and I can tell you the rear window is not exactly available. I bought a new windshield for it, $750.00 delivered. And yes the shows have ruined it for all of us. Also Barret/Jackson. Folks think their what evers are a fortune. Duh.

HAHAHA!! I watched that show! 😂😂😂😂 And yes, there is no way they would EVER set that "rare glass" on a sawhorse. 🤦🤦 I am not a fan of that body style of Barracuda because I don't like the back glass. But that is my take on it (the same reason why I don't like those 1987 Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupes). 😊😊

Tv is horseshit. Reality TV is a cancer on low IQ types. NOTHING reality about 'reality' tv. Unfortunately, many people base their concept of the world in general by what crap they see on tv. Classic cars as a hobby have been utterly ruined by this type of made up nonsense. I Have a '69 barracuda and I currently have 3 back windows because I've always been led to believe how rare they are. (luckily I got 2 of em for basically nothing.) "we're going to lose the shop if we don't get this done!" = fake, manufactured drama because building cars is actually pretty damn boring. You are right bud. It's all bunk for dramatic effect. BUT it has influenced in a bad way the real car market. The absolute worst culprits in the past were gas monkey and counting cars. Or those shows where they spray dust and wood chips over a nice car and pretend to find it like that 'lost in a barn for 50 years' with strangely fully inflated 6 month old tires on it and a charged battery. this type of thinking is why a rusted out husk in a field with trees growing through the floors is 15 grand now. so stupid. good on you for calling it like it is. cheers.

Tv and the internet destroyed the car hobby. It’s not a hobby anymore. It’s a cash cow for scumbag flippers and people who buy stuff just buy it. Barret Jackson: after it started I couldn’t buy B body coronet and plymouth rollers for $500 anymore Gas monkey: Suddenly everyone wants a 67-72 ford truck Fb groups: OBS fords are suddenly made of solid gold Roadkill; Chargers and ramp trucks. And then the dbags on fb just say “oh stop being poor” No dckhead, stop finding markets to destroy so people who actually see it as a HOBBY can enjoy their HOBBY! Rant over.

about 20 years ago on a show called "Jack-Ass" , one of the jack-asses screamed out the phrase, "bold faced lie!" I've heard it misstated countless times since. Yeah, I just bought a ‘64 Barracuda project that actually was missing the back glass and I bought a replacement for $100; which is pretty much top dollar for that glass … but I was there … it was there … and I just wanted to grab it and forget about it! I have seen them offered for free and up for sale for $250.00 all the up to $1,500. Of course, nobody pays that much! Everybody that pulled those back windows 30-50 years ago and carefully stored them away in cool, dark places should have also pulled the windshields and stored them away, too. They all turn white around the edges! Too bad I live on the other coast because I see a bunch of parts I’d love to pick off there before it goes off for scrap! Unfortunately, where I live, people selling 64-66 Barracudas tend to labor under the impression that they own some version of a junior 440 six pack ‘Cuda and ask unrealistic money for them … because “anything MoPar is a big money car!” Why? Because they saw it on TV!
@rocketresto
@rocketresto 2 күн бұрын
$100 is perfectly reasonable for the glass. Don’t think I’m even going to pull the glass on these before they go away.

NOTHING is "worth" what it's SAID to be "worth", especially considering that the D Bags that drove the prices up aren't really big fans of the stuff they're buying... They're usually only buying because some weasel convinced them that whatever it is, is a "good investment". My favorite way to explain it, is to say that I never, ever thought I'd see the day when the snot green, 1970 Nova, four door, six cylinder grocery getter that the nuns from the local convent used only on Friday... Would one day be considered a "classic" and somehow be "worth" $16,000.00 . My family was in the restoration/custom business back in the Eighties and Nineties... Until everything went absolutely crazy. And as da gubmint started making things like chrome work and paint nearly untouchable, even for the professional to be able to afford to do, mom and dad had to hang it up and close the doors. I remember turning out absolutely beautiful, fully restored CADILLACS back in the mid Eighties, that might have cost the shop 15k to do... And my folks were incredibly fair with customers and didn't mark things up ten times, like is usually done today. All of that combined with the crazy asking prices for CLAPPED OUT SH*T that we wouldn't have even considered as a "parts car" back then... And that's why we couldn't afford to run the business anymore. Something else that baffles me is the seeming lack of people who even do SIMPLE repair these days. I'm up in age now and racked with debilitating arthritis, so doing relatively simple things with my vehicles has become impossible... Things like small electrical repairs. Forget taking it into town and paying someone $150 to do it... Nope. It's a $200 "Diagnostic Fee" and umpteen hours at $130 per BEFORE some "Technician" can begin to figure it out... ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS.
@rocketresto

Just the chrome and materials bill is more than they said it “cost” to restore that Cuda.
