Thanks for the question. To be honest I can't remember where I got the hard plastic base from I've had it for years and years. It could have been from my local (U.K.) branch of Hobbycraft or even from eBay, As I say I honestly can't remember. The details for actual Geli Plate/Press itself is as follows (just copy and paste into Amazon - wherever you live) Gel Press Monoprinting Print Plate - 6” X 6” (15.2 X 15.2 cm) Gel Plate - Printmaking Supplies - Reusable Gel Printing Plates for Press Art for Card Making, Scrapbooking, Journaling, Arts & Crafts. This will give you the info you need. As for the plastic base it really isn't essential and I don't use it all of the time. Hope that helps 😊

Why not leave the plate on its original plastic sheet all the time?
@butterflysmindАй бұрын
Thanks for the question. I use the gel plate so often, not only when I am filming, and sometimes I forget to take it off the rigid plastic base I put it on. I like to be able to turn the plate upside down to see what's happening underneath layer wise - hence the rigid plastic plate. It's easy for me to turn it upside down that way because it's sitting on something solid and not bendy. After each session I keep all of my gel plates in the original plastic cases so they don't get damaged . I don't like leaving them sitting on paper too long as the "oils" in the gel plate leech out. Thanks again for the question 🙂
@krisb754729 күн бұрын
Gorgeous pulls! ❤
@sandyfranklin112329 күн бұрын
Leaving the plate on the plastic sheet can result in air bubbles which create indentations on the plate! You can put a sheet of copy paper on the gel plate to prevent this.
@butterflysmind29 күн бұрын
@@sandyfranklin1123 Thank you. I have always left all of my gel plates in or on the plastic shell cases they came in, I've done this for years and have not experienced any damage or air bubble problems. I clean the plastic shell cases regularly so as to not have these problems. I personally don't like to leave the gel plates on paper for any length of time because I see that a lot of the oils leech out (I do regularly oil my plates though) I truly resect your opinion and thank you for leaving these comments, they are most welcome 😊

@butterflysmindАй бұрын
Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I have just rewatched the video and see exactly what you mean…… it does have an organic park/ abstract landscape vibe which wasn’t intentional. I have been to Central Park and also the park quite close to where I live in the U.K. (Birkenhead Park, Merseyside) which it is believed was the inspiration for the layout of Central Park. Perhaps those places were in my mind when I was putting the piece together….. memory and inspiration might have been working here. Thank you once again 😊

Hi, rhanks so much for trying to help us with layering. I watched your video re tips for layering - can i clarify tho, are u saying to start with opaque colour, then add semi transparents from light to dark? Yoy seemed to say that adding an opaque colour at the end made for duller prints, so do u think we shud use semi transparent as final layer, or is it about thw colour u choose, or both😮😂 thanks!!!
@butterflysmindАй бұрын
Thanks for the question, I'll try my best to answer it LOL. The more I use the Gelli Plate the more I discover new ways to produce textured paper..... sometimes things work, other times I end up with a disaster. I don't have any hard and fast rules I follow and each time I use the Gelli Plate I change the order of things to see what results I get. I try not to follow any particular rules (I was always known as a rule breaker in the photographic world LOL). I think what I am saying is..... follow your intuition and go with the Gelli Plate flow. Find out what works for you, be careful when mixing paints so that you don't get mud... unless you want to make mud of course !!!! Adding an opaque colour as your final colour could/will "dull" the textured paper down, but sometimes a small opaque pattern is just what the final print needs, it really all depends on what YOU want. Change your order of paints/transparencies and work through any problems and don't ever EVER give up, it's so much fun,....... and soooooooo frustrating LOL.
