The order you lay your colours and stencils down on your Gelli Plate (or even a conventional painting) is really important and in this video I share some top tips to help you decide.

One’s hot mess is not another’s. No wonder I have so many prints. I try everyone’s method. But to be honest, my best pulls were accidents and I’ll never be able to duplicate. Thanks for sharing. I did learn and have a better understanding of pulling my prints.

I agree fully. I love the creators version of a hot mess and I’m okay with that. Art and creativity are highly subjective. Peace to you other person loving this version of hot mess. Carry on!

It's amazing to me how different these all look using the same 3 colors. Very helpful tutorial, and I appreciate you taking the time to explain the process. Loved your close up camera angle that really brings us into the project. I'm inspired to get out my gel plate and try this exercise. I need all the help I can get in choosing colors and layering. Thanks so much!

Oh my .... thank you much I'm blown away with your lovely comments. I struggle to "demonstrate" and talk at the same time - I stutter a little and it doesn't help with the flow when I am trying to explain. But, I do my best and if I can encourage anyone to have a go then it's all so worth while. I have lots more videos scheduled for the coming weeks/months and I really hope you are able to catch them. Keep going, push boundaries, never give up and and enjoy being a creative. Thank you once more x

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words. I too still get muddy results but I keep on going and more often than not I can rescue it. Sometimes I get so carried away making the layers I don't stop to think..... and then realise it's a hot mess LOL. That was fascinating and very helpful. I didn’t mind the look of the yellow one though. I would be interested in seeing other videos along these lines using a limited type of paints eg. where you only use opaque. Thanks for a great video!

Thanks you so much. You are right, one persons hot mess is another persons "masterpiece' LOL . I try to be honest about what I produce and sometimes I am less than pleased with the results but I carry on and more often than not I can rescue the piece. But there is always a chance of a hot mess every now and again... but even a hot mess can be an asset to a collage. Once again thank you for your encouragement 😊

Liquitex does a "transparent yellow and transparent red" which will give you more transparent layers. Most acrylic paints brands do opaque, semi opaque and transparent. So you may be able to find a true transparent blue if you wanted to change layers around in different orders.
@butterflysmind
@butterflysmind 2 ай бұрын
Awww thank you for your info re transparent acrylics. Yes I agree, most are opaque or semi transparent and they do have their place in the layering. I have a few true transparent acrylics and I am about to start a project on how many layers I can produce just using transparent paints...... watch this space. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much, that's very kind. I bought my stencils, quite recently from eBay (U.K.) . The supplier was PS Commerce Ltd and the name of the pack of 12 stencils is Geometric Painting Stencils Set for Craft, 12 PCS Plastic Art Template, Drawing - I paid £13.06 for the set. I have just checked and is currently out of stock but there are many more similar stencils on eBay. Thanks again

Is that actually a gelli plate? It looks much harder than mine. More like the block I use for my stamps.
@butterflysmind
@butterflysmind 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the question. Yes 100% a Gelli Plate however, on that occasion I placed the Gelli Plate onto a ridged plastic block (like the one you use for your stamps) so that I can more easily flip the Gelli Plate over to see how the layers are working out. The grid pattern you see on the Gelli Plate is from the more ridged plastic block underneath. Hope that answers your question..... and thank you once again.
