@@steveshadowphoto9346 Hi Steve! Many thanks for your comment. You know? There are a lot of myths in photography that people just hear and repeat it over and over to a point that they assume that it's a true thing. Nowadays when someone say something about a body or a lens, people just assume that it's true. The shame on all this is that they don't give space for trying it out for themselves. It's kind of "I heard my neighbour saying that beer tastes bad, so I'm not even going to try it out for myself.... Beer is blerghhh!!" . Another thing on my videos is that it's just the goofy way that I am... About 20 years ago me and my ex-wife were at a friend's house in Belgium. It used to be a former pre-school that was bombed out by the Germans during the Ardennes offensive. According to them, the house has since been haunted. One night, somewhere close to 2 Am , we were about to hit the sack when we heard our dog jumping and going for the bedroom door growling . We stood motionless as we heard long footsteps reaching for our door and seconds after someone, or something, knocked at the door. I looked at my ex-wife, looked at my growling dog, and said out loud : "Would you come in?"... And got slapped by my wife ...

I also found out, very early on my film photography life, that composition is more natural to me on a 6x6 camera rather than the standard rectangular shape. How can you possibly say the Nikon F2 is an ugly camera? It is beautiful! It is one of the most iconic cameras ever made! It was the "Leica killer" and was used to make the most iconic photographs ever shot in a war zone (Vietnam). I have one in my hand right now and it is beautiful. It is a merger of aesthetic and functionality. It is definitely far superior to the Nikon F (which I also have). I own all Nikon film cameras from the F to the F6 and I would choose my favourite as the F2. It's probably the best film camera ever made! And you know it will never let you down.

Hehehehe! And I have two of them and I'm looking for a third one, that being with a serial of September 1975, that being the month and year that I was born. But yes, I really don't like this "very ugly duckling" from Nikon and my other F2 has the standard non-metered prism which I find it "okayish" on what concerns beauty. On what concerns this, I several times prefer the original F with the Photonic on top. I have a special relation with this camera as a few years ago I was in the hospital, fighting for my life during the first lockdown, and I asked for a camera to be "smuggled in" via the dirty laundry exchange. I was confined to a bed but keeping my mental health "alive" with a Nikon f by my side and a handful of rolls ASA400. Then, as I slowly recovered, hospital staff just got used to have a patient with a weird camera wrapped around himself at any given time :)

The Horseman 970 does swing. I have one and use swing all the time. With the lens pointing towards you, if you look at the front standard, on the right hand side, just below the standard there is a small silver lever. Push the lever down and it releases the swing. Now it does lock solid, it just uses resistance to hold the swing, but it works quite effectively.

My hats (And I have some) are off to Fujifilm. Even today when I pick one up, it's buttons are exactly where they should be and it feels like Fuji was one of the few, if not the only one, who brought it's knowledge from analogue to digital and kept evolving it's products. I remember when Nikon launched it's flagship D1... It felt like a "off" machine, not even like a copy of a F5 brought to digital (Like Kodak did), and the menus were excruciatingly horrid to work with. There was one thing I liked about the D1, which still today only Fujifilm offers... A camera that reaches 1/16000 of shutter speed.

Many thanks for your comment. I'll give you my opinion (which is worth only that) "Focus points" are mainly a selling issue rather than a practical thing. The machine itself focus the distance, which is only influenced by the Fstop you want it to be, meaning the higher the Fstop the more centimetres will be in focus. However there are people who like to have viewing screens to lit up like X-mas trees, and I think that they fail to realise that all those "points" are at the same distance of the one who actually did the focusing. By my own experience, with autofocus capable cameras, I'm perfectly happy on focusing and recomposing. I was the other day talking to a friend, and he was "jibbering" about his new sony and it's 700 AF points... And I was thinking: "Hey? You just need one!!"

Good afternoon and many thanks for the comment! Yes, they are surprisingly cheap given the ratio price quality. I guess that it's like buying a Harley-Davidson, where 50% of the price paid goes only for the name itself rather than the product. I have several Mamiya C lenses who are extremely sharp and contrasty, that do rival directly with the Zeiss lens of the either Rolleiflex and Hasselblad. However being bulky and "fatty" (The Mamiya I mean) is not always a bad thing as shooting in low light, which is the case of the Subway in Lisbon, is an added "Bonus" turning it more stable :)

Good morning and many thanks for your comment :) I will warn you that you will not see any difference between THE FINAL RESULT of yours C330f and a Hassy 500... The Hasselblad might make you look more visible, as people recognise it from "the movies" almost as much as a Rolleiflex. But in the end you will not notice a big difference between comparable lens, this meaning the SEIKO/Mamiya 80mm f2.8 and the Hassy's Zeiss 80mm f2.8 as they are both incredible and extremely sharp lenses. And if you look at the price level of both, with a Hassy in-between 900 to 1300 and the Mamiya C in the region of 200 to 350€, its practically a "no brainer". As mere curiosity, I also use the Mamiya on another project I ocasionally do, which is to use a 135 film, with adapters, on this medium format, taking full length images 24mm x 600mm .

The Mamiya is cumbersome and top heavy but it's a beautiful piece of engineering. It's like a steam locomotive, with a lot of the moving parts on the outside. You can do roadside repairs if it breaks down. The Hasselblad feels more at home in the studio, it recoils like a shotgun, needs a tripod. I love both, the square format is so good to compose. I took my best 6x6s with a Pentacon Six - amazing lenses, gentle mirror bounce - and a Mamiya 6 rangefinder that has great ergonomics plus a Leica M-3 grade rangefinder.

Good morning and thank you for the comment! Yes, she's cumbersome, and compared to other TLR cameras, she looks like an "ugly duckling". But actually on low light situations, just like subwaystations and inside the train itself, the extra-weight is actually very practical as it helps stabilizing the camera more than another more lighter.
