Great video! I love my Nikon F4. I have a few Minolta AF lenses I use on my Sony Alpha 900, but I'll have to look at the 600si.

@@steveshadowphoto9346 hi there! I'm actually ordering a MF-23 back for my Nikon F4. I always wanted to have the speed and fstop number written between frames :) if you want to see more from the Minolta, just go and see the last video about the bullfights ... All shots were made with her... And they don't disappoint!

They are both made of plastic if not mistaken. All camera companies went with the plastic that brokedown and oozed the sticky gunk during that time.

@@thevoiceman6192 not the F4. That one is magnesium alloy, heavy and durable. And the rubber doesn't become gunk on that model. The only Nikon I saw that happen, and that was gunk all over the place, was with my D300s

@@paulodefeyter The N 90's and N90s have the sticky plastic problem as well as the Canon Eos series and Minoltas.

@@thevoiceman6192 that name change on the Nikon cameras always throws me off guard. Here they are known by Nikon f90 (which is miles apart from the f100). I have a notion that went for "plastic-not-so-fantastic" as from the FM10... But I might be wrong and been sooner than that.

Let's not forget that if you add the MF-23 Data Back to the Nikon F4, it opens up a wide range of options. Got three, two in very good working conditions, and one incomplete body that I got for spare parts for almost nothing

Hi Adrian! I actually dont have the MF23 back, so there's not much I can say about it. The only thing towards it, and this not only the Nikon F's but 135 in general, is that I'm shooting it less and less in favour of Medium and Large format :) But I got around 60 cameras in 135, so I need to pay more attention to it :). Just to give you a concise idea, I bought 5 years ago a Voigtlander Deluxe, which is still on its original bag and I never got around to use it.

@@paulodefeyter such a shame about those unused cameras. You definitely must make an effort and get at least a roll of film through them. I used to have a lot myself, took a 100ft/30m roll of Agfa APX400, and used 15-16 frame rolls to figure out which I enjoy the most. Sold most of what I didn't use and decided to keep what I knew I'd want to pick up later. But I definitely feel you with the medium format. Got a Mamiya RB67 Pro SD, and a Mamiya M645, both systems with various lenses that I can't put down 😂 Weirdly enough, I've been using a Canon IVf for the past two weeks, just because it's extremely portable, and I wanted to do more street photography. Although I've been using the M645 with the 45mm for that

@@adriancozma6102 Uuuuuh Geez I really have a lot of cameras. Do you know that feeling that a deal is too good that you just cant pass out? For instance the other day I bought another Rolleiflex for 130€. Now I got LITERALLY 7 TLRs in front of my 2 own eyes, just gazing at me and saying "Take me! Take me! Take me!!!" For the 135's I used to buy 50m rolls from Foma, divide it in 2 smaller rolls so that they can fit a standard bulk loader, and it would last me for a month, month and a half tops! Now I go through rolls of medium format and sheets of 4x5 like a mad man... I use at least 25 rolls of 120 per month.

Why didn't you use the same shutter speed on both cameras? That's why Nikon looks faster when it is not
@paulodefeyter
@paulodefeyter 17 күн бұрын
Hi there! There was no need as the light conditions did not change and both cameras chose the same settings to shoot. Nevertheless the 600si can only do 2.5 shots per second and the Nikon f4 does almost 6. :)

1:18 I never got the multiple auto focus points... isn't it much faster to half press the shutter and then quickly reframe the shot... rather than hit a button to pull up all the focus points and then scroll through them to find the one you want? Am I missing something with all the auto focus points? Serious question. It just seems way slower than focusing on what you want then reframing the shot.

Many thanks for your comment. I'll give you my opinion (which is worth only that) "Focus points" are mainly a selling issue rather than a practical thing. The machine itself focus the distance, which is only influenced by the Fstop you want it to be, meaning the higher the Fstop the more centimetres will be in focus. However there are people who like to have viewing screens to lit up like X-mas trees, and I think that they fail to realise that all those "points" are at the same distance of the one who actually did the focusing. By my own experience, with autofocus capable cameras, I'm perfectly happy on focusing and recomposing. I was the other day talking to a friend, and he was "jibbering" about his new sony and it's 700 AF points... And I was thinking: "Hey? You just need one!!"

this was the beginning of the next 20 years of cameras being large, convoluted, garish, plastic clunkers with way too many features until fujifilm hit the reset button in the late '00s.

My hats (And I have some) are off to Fujifilm. Even today when I pick one up, it's buttons are exactly where they should be and it feels like Fuji was one of the few, if not the only one, who brought it's knowledge from analogue to digital and kept evolving it's products. I remember when Nikon launched it's flagship D1... It felt like a "off" machine, not even like a copy of a F5 brought to digital (Like Kodak did), and the menus were excruciatingly horrid to work with. There was one thing I liked about the D1, which still today only Fujifilm offers... A camera that reaches 1/16000 of shutter speed.

@@paulodefeyter ya, I just bought a Nikon FE2 because it offered 1/4000th shutter. It almost seemed like a novelty to have that fast a shutter, BUT, I threw some 800 ISO in the camera and on the same day handheld was shooting bright desert daylight... and nighttime street lit. Pretty impressive
